Do I only get a ranking tomorrow after the shares change tonight? Sorry for all the questions. No wonder I don't invest in the stock market

prizesgalore your celebs will stay there untill you sell them. Your ranking I think only comes up after the nighttime autobanking thingy.
Sometime today the prices will update, then if you want you can buy/sell do nothing
But you can buy and sell as many times as you want between 6am and 2am east time daily, each one gives you an extra entry into the weekly prize draw

just checked in this morning, but my profit hasn't been banked. Are we supposed to do that manually? I thought it did it automatically every night.

It gets automatically banked if you have 5 or more celebs, so if you only had money on 4 it wouldn't auto bank for you.

The price I buy the clebs at is lower than their current price but they have red arrows next to them

I am trying to remember what it did the night before. It banked mine last night, I can see the amount in the bank account, but my cash balance is still showing the amount banked plus the $10k that should stay there

I thought the same thing Ekajata. Not that it makes much difference to me but was very surprised that it gives out your full name. I'm sure some wouldn't be very happy with that.

To those having trouble with the registration button, I had the same problem, I couldnt click it at all, I had to use Firefox instead of IE....

Worked ok on Miss12's comp with IE.... also found that this comp runs a lot quicker on Firefox.....

So presumably we buy the celebs with the green arrow going up?? And then sell them the next day and buy more? Is that how it works?

In the rules it states that you cannot have more than 5000 shares or $5000 invested in any one celebrity. Well the leader "Entropy" has 46423 share in Frankie J, 25000 in Gregory Peck, 15000 in Kim Novak, 202300 in Liza Minnelli, ok so I know that these have dropped off the top 500 so aren't worth anything now, but maybe that is how the 24 000 000 they have banked came from.

When the celebrity you have chosen goes off the board and is worth zero dollars, do you just hold on to them in the hope that they will be resurrected again?????

Don't know Dink I have 3 (and about $7000) in celebrities now worth zero. Man I am so good at this game LOL I am just going to leave them a while and hope they go up ???

I also emailed them about how the person in 1st position had hundreds of thousands of shares when you're only allowed 5000 shares per celebrity at the most. Looks like they've taken their account away cause they are not in the top 20 any more

started off in 6th place, yesterday morning. Down to 44th the next morning.

HINT: if its down to zero, you DON'T HAVE to sell for $0; However they MAY bounce back.
I did this the morning with all my funds, except for 10c. Came back and they had all crashed to ZERO. So will buy 1 10c share when there's one as low as that. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF SELLING ALL MY ZERO SHARES (which I didn't have to do, so down to 10c)

However my husband's a/c is doing much better. If going out or away sell some or all shares to have as a surplus when you get back; as sharemarket crashes can happen in a matter of a couple of hours. WILL NOW ALWAYS KEEP SOME CASH IN RESERVE.

Looks like positions will chop and change and the same person won't necessarily be in the top 20 everyday.

That person in number one, shares probably all went to zero and also may not have had a lot left unspent.

Dink, you can hang on to them and hope that they will come up again - but keep in mind you can only have a max of 10 celebs, so might have to sell some for $0 if they all do that.

I would say to sell them as they have no hope of coming back because once they get to 500+ off the board they can't be bought anymore, plus they take up the space for shares as you have the limited amount, did that make sense? lol I lost a packet today lmao!

Yes, bought Mr T at $40 odd, by the next day he was zero - hung on hoping that he would go back up again. Today was $36 so I sold. Lost some money - but not nearly as much as if I had sold him at $0. It really depends if you think that someone is popular enough to get back into the top 500. I have sold others that I didn't think would come back.

How can you lose money from your bank? Yesterday I had a big $55 in my bank and this morning it is gone; although I didn't get below my original $10000. I think I still had two or three hundred left to play with.

I am confused...I have a cash amount left in the top right hand corner...My shares have done well overnight...but when does your credits go into the bank account at the bottom? There is zero in there just like in real life

The amount at right is the amount of cash on hand ie: $10 000 play money plus any shares sold today. The amount at bottom is the amount that was auto banked by the game as excess in cash over 10k. So kind of think of it as your purse or wallet at right and at 2am the game automatically banks any money you are carrying over the 10k to the bank seen below.

I had shares that have been at 0 for 3 days and now are worth heaps more than I paid for them Stocks changed sooooo often yesterday. Think about the timing and check on your shares. There are peak hour times online too and as the shares move with the amount of times they are searched keep your eyes peeled for news stories on celebs. ie: I should have kept my Gwenyth Paltrow shares as she is in the news todday and likely to be searched more today. Watch out for the weekend, I can only assume that they will all move alot more than during the week.

The rules state:
"For a weekly dose of upcoming celebrity events and who's tipped to hit the cyber headlines, simply register for a Citibank clear card and we'll deliver the goss straight to your inbox. Those who are already Citibank clear card holders are already eligible."

Share value is what you currently hold in shares - so if you have $50 000 in shares you may have 5 celebs each returning $10 000. (just as an example) Over the right hand side (near the log out button) of the screen you will see a cash on hand amount that is the amount to be banked.

I've had this happen twice, I'm sure I've had at 50-100 shares yesterday in Enrique Iglasias but today he's gone up heaps yet my share holding has dropped to only 5 shares. When the person who you bought drops out of the 500 they will only leave you with 5 shares in that person

My 5 sub-zero celebrities still have the original number of shares (I think). No fives, but I might make a note of the number to see if it changes.

It's because of the auto banking that happens at each morning.

Step 1: Your ‘Investment Budget’ – We will check how much ‘cash’ you have not tied up in ‘celeb shares’ and bank that first.

If you have no ‘cash’ as all of your money is tied up in ‘celeb shares’ – or – you still have a ‘profit’ over $10,000 tied up in ‘celeb shares’ – we will move to ‘Step 2’.

Step 2: Release equity tied up in your ‘celeb shares’ - We will ‘Auto Sell’ shares in your highest worth celebrity (This is the celebrity with the highest worth in dollars). We will sell as many shares as it takes until you are left with your investment float of $10,000 *

My 'current price' does not change at all throughout the day. They seem to only change over night. Is this the same with everyone?

I read something in the GLOSSARY that said something about it automatically sells off shares for you each night if they exceed $5000 worth or something...

simel, mine havent changed through the day only overnight but I have seen some change through the day I went to buy one in the list at 0.60 and when I clicked on then they came up at 20 odd dollars - drat too slow for me!

Mine changed sometime between 12 and 12.30 today. Perhaps only some celebs change and if you haven't got them chosen, you don't notice it.

Just finished my buying and selling for the afternoon - now it seems to be broken again like it was yesterday. All of mine are suddenly showing as 500+ (including Brad who hasn't budged from the $40s all week). No option to buy anymore either.

I still do not understand when they change the figures. Doesn't seem to happen at a regular time each day. I am going insane, updating or refreshing to see if they have changed.

why do they take all your shares except 5?

I think everyone needs to email them about the theft of shares when not need to be sold also about them not leaving us with the 10k float each day. This has happened 3 days running now. I used the 'contact us' link on the right and advise everyone who is having issues to as well. Maybe the leaders aren't having the same probs as some of us are. I was doing so well till I keep getting left with not cash even though I banked 1.8mil last night, with only 5 shares in each celeb and no cash not much I can do

They take the shares because at the start of each day you can only have $10000 in shares and/or money for the new trading day. Your shares that have value and money combined cannot exceed $10000.

If you are over at bank time, they sell excess shares and they bank the money that the shares have been sold for.

If you have a read of how to play, there is an example and it is clearly detailed.

what I don't understand is why the took all the money I had banked yesterday aswell. Yestie I had 241,000 now I have no money at all and all my shares have been taken except 5 of each. I thought the amount of money you had in the bank was what gave you your ranking?

and I should say my share value is also less than $10,000. Whats the point of making money during the day if your cash balance is taken off you overnight?

the night before I made a profit of $38,000 and that was left in the bank.

the money you have during the day is just in your pocket so to speak. spending money. Anything in excess of the 10 thou is banked and locked away and added to your tally, no idea why your shares don't add up to ten thou, maybe they did then they dropped??

okies go to the 'my portfolio' link and scroll down the page there should be a section called 'my bank account'

TOTAL BANKED MOVEMENT VALUE WEEKLY BANK MOVEMENT VALUE LAST TRANSACTION IN LAST TRANSACTION OUT HIGHEST BANKED DAILY AMOUNT HIGHEST BANK VALUE

it has all that in it and it tells you your totals

also if you click on the league tag it tells you the top 20 but your name will be right up to top with how much money you have banked and your position in the comp

What's happening with this $#@% game

Brandon Lee's xRank is 1 and I have 5000 shares but it's showing his share value as $0 and he's below 500.

The same with Axle Whitehead who's 14 on the xRank but my 5000 shares are worth $0.

so she went up to number one and paid $50 a share therefore $50 x 100= $5,000 for one share so you bought 5,000 shares thats ...um.......ah..........$25,000,000 cant be right......

a share cant be priced at one cent so this is clearly a mistake

I have the same problem, I brought 5000 shares in 3 celebs and now they have skyrocked and it's telling me I only have 5 shares this morning.

The 5 shares thing is in the rules:

"The Criteria our clever ‘Auto Banking System’ will use is as follows:

Step 1: Your ‘Investment Budget’ - We will check how much ‘FIXATED cash’ you have not tied up in ‘Celebrity Stocks’ and bank that first.

If you have no ‘FIXATED cash’ as all of your money is tied up in ‘Celebrity Stocks’ – or – you still have a ‘profit’ over $10,000 tied up in ‘Celebrity Stock’ – we will move to ‘Step 2’.

Step 2: Release equity tied up in your ‘Celebrity Stock’ - We will ‘Auto Sell’ shares in your highest worth celebrity (This is the celebrity with the highest worth in dollars). We will sell as many shares as it takes until you are left with your investment float of $10,000 *

Important note: We will always keep 5 shares in a celebrity – Therefore, if we still need to bank more profit – the ‘Auto Sell’ facility will move onto your next highest value Celebrity – and so on, until your are left with an ‘Investment Budget’ of $10,000 (or slightly under*) for the start of the next Trading Day.

* Slightly Under – The ‘Auto Banking System’ will always want to bank as much profit for you as it can - so when selling ‘Stock’ it may have to round down the number of shares sold to maintain your Portfolio Investment budget at $10,000 or under. "

I just read back through the thread apparently it has something to do with ur $10,000 kitty and they pluck off shares to even it out starting with ur most expensive - of course!

But they sell them for you (at a high price), which goes into your banked amount - so in some ways they are doing you a favour. Prices could have gone down again by the morning (saves you being up at 2am trading).

If you want to avoid being left with no money have less than five celebs overnight that way the bank wont bank what you have although you may miss out on profits overnight you may have money to play with the next day.This does not work all the time as the four celebs you have may go below zero overnight but if that happends they may rocket up the next day.

Tip 2: Keep any celebs that you have a lot of shares in if they go below zero in value that is under the 500 mark.
When i started playing this game and my celebs went to zero i got rid of them even if i had 5000 shares in them....big mistake....as they may come back up again.........

If you've got shares on David Duchovny - hang onto them!!!

Yes, the lower ranked ones have always been in alpha order. The X-Rank scale is still relatively new - so am assuming that it started out in alpha order before any searching.

They can't unless they are cheating. This happened before with another leader and if enough people email them about it they will remove the shares. I hope that they invoice all the transactions for the winner to make sure no cheating.

That is the only one I could see but of course I am only looking at the top few. They removed the last person that had 50 000 shares in a couple of celebs

tarzwal I am sorry if it is a mistake that your OH has been given too many shares. I don't want to see you penalised for their mistake. I only take issue with people who deliberately cheat to win. I know how much effort is involved in staying in the top 50 let alone the top 20 so I take my hat off to your OH for getting that far. Just send them an email via the contact us tab on the right middle of page and let them know the situation. There have been people who have had several celebs over the 5000 share limit obviously giving an unfair advantage. I formally withdraw my remarks about cheating in your OH's instance if it is a genuine mistake, as it sure sounds like it is. I hope they can fix it up for you. Sending off another email to them now to try to find out why this is happening to unsuspecting players.

I checked this morning and had banked a very respectable $4.6mill but it has only left me with a total of $3000. I thought you were meant to start with $10k each day. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thats what I thought too Layz but hubby and I were both left with about $3000 worth of shares and no cash. The shares hadn't dropped between 2am and when I logged in as all our shares were still at around $40+ and we only had 5 of each.

Layz - shares can go down between when the bank opens again at 6am and when you log on for the morning - for example I only have around $2000 to play with this morning.

Edited: yes, I have just looked at mine as well - only one celeb with more than 5 shares - and they are at 500. Have emailed them a query.

Yeah there was a share price change at around 6.30 this morning so they could have gone down then.

No definitely something funny going on - only have one celeb with more than 5 shares - and they have only moved up 1 place since yesterday - I have checked the graph against the celeb that lists the price that they are at 2am every morning for the last week - definitely didn't plunge. Anyone else who has this prob - I would email them.

I also ended up with a heap of shares at 5, that's the part of the game I don't get.

By the sounds of it, yes a definate glitch. I too am sorry for my reference to cheating regarding ur OH.

Elfgirl, they are meant to sell your shares for you and leave you with 5 shares per celeb - however they are also meant to leave you with a float of around $10,000 cash and shares to play with later that day. The shares can lose value between them assessing the $10,000 and when you log on - however that is not what has happened in this case.

Oh k I got it. So with me being left with $1300 today was a mistake, I just checked and I now add up to $10,000 so they must have fixed it

Man, really bummed out in the last update

The reimbursement was definitely not right this morning.
Think it was the same for everyone. I was totally confused when I logged in.

I think that if you got a updated celebrity at the 6.15-6.30am update, then you wouldn't have noticed the problem if you hadn't logged in before then.

I have just checked my account after about 3 hours and I made a profit on Whoppi Goldberg of $290,000 and all the others went to 500+.

I logged in at 6.05am and bought Whoppi for 60 cents and then I went to buy next celeb and Whoppi went Whoppi and straight to 500+.

I lost $3500 in 5 seconds of buying her, but at least she paid out this arvo........

I have 301,000 in the kitty, compared to yestredays millions......


BTW...................... I dont think it is right to have the person at no.1's profile showing in full when you log onto the site, dont you think it is unecessary as you have the opp to go and look at the top 20 profiles anyway......why should they be exposed for ALL to see.......I dont think it is fair on that person.

you will only lose the balance at 2am tonight. If you sell all your shares - and obviously you've got shares to sell but you don't have to sell all of them - then the money go into the cash balance which gives you the money to play with. Then you buy yourself some nice cheap shares and hope they go up at lunchtime.

Right now I recommend you sell your shares that have made a nice profit.

Good news was I got a reply from my "contact us" email saying that they are looking at the share problem


Last night (early this morning more like it) there was an update of celebrities - went up and down within a space of 20 mins. Last night these were the ones that most would have invested in last. So if you caught this window of opportunity you would have made a hefty profit and would have been able to reinvest in the same celebrities (although their new price was $1)

Pattern over last 2 days

Last two nights there have been updates in the early hours of the morning around 12.45am to 1.15am. It might me worth catching those times a couple of nights over the week (sometimes the change pays off, other times it doesn't)

Try and look at stocks at 6.00am to reinvest depending on what has taken place in the no go time period.

Last two mornings there has been an mid morning update. So login then as well

Not sure what's going on with this site

I bought up heaps of shares under $1 this morning and logged in about 10 minutes ago to check. It showed that most of them were up around the $15-20 mark each, so I thought I'd grab that extra bit of profit by selling.

Went in to sell one celebrity and then it wasn't showing the $15 price it had on my portfolio screen, it showed the current price as what I had purchased it for.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I don't think it was up there long, and then they went back to the same amounts they were this monring.

That's why i wasn't sure if it was a glitch or a genuine update?

same thing happened to me i had over $600,000 each celeb was valued at around $70,000 value i decided to leave them and hope they would go up in value as most were paying $15 a share so i loged out then loged back in five min later and they were back down to the value i bought them at...and lost aver $600,000........i should not have been so greedy and banked them when i could......then i could have bought them back at their origanl price they are now....

At the close of 'Trading' each day (02:00AM AEST) our clever 'Auto Banking System' will search all Portfolios who are valued over $10,000 FIXATED dollars. The value of the Portfolio is based on the FIXATED cash left in the 'Investment Budget' and the value of your celeb shares at 02:00AM AEST.

All Portfolios with a worth over $10,000 FIXATED dollars will have any profits above the original $10,000 FIXATED dollars banked automatically - using our clever 'Auto Banking System'.

The Criteria our clever ‘Auto Banking System’ will use is as follows:

Step 1: Your ‘Investment Budget’ – We will check how much ‘cash’ you have not tied up in ‘celeb shares’ and bank that first.

If you have no ‘cash’ as all of your money is tied up in ‘celeb shares’ – or – you still have a ‘profit’ over $10,000 tied up in ‘celeb shares’ – we will move to ‘Step 2’.

Step 2: Release equity tied up in your ‘celeb shares’ - We will ‘Auto Sell’ shares in your highest worth celebrity (This is the celebrity with the highest worth in dollars). We will sell as many shares as it takes until you are left with your investment float of $10,000 *

There were no movements in share values yesterday as the site didnt update and nearly everyone on the Top 20 list had the same celebrities purchased.

So my question is how can some people yesterday have a banked total over $4million???? And the rest of us only have a bank total of about $1.6-$1.7 million???

Seems strange that the same few people always get the quick share trades and updates.

Well probably not strange at all - more to do with using a program that lets you know when sites have updated.

Don't think it would be illegal at all.

But I think something very fishy is going on with this comp. For a promotion that is based on live searches of celebrities - I fail to understand without manipulation that random searches always produce rises in celebrity values in an alpabetical order.

True, and the first few days I was playing, I was just choosing celebs that were in the current mags or on ninemsn's home page, thinking they would be the ones that rise? I must admit some of them I hadn't even heard off or thought they were hasbeens and all of a sudden they are the most searched celebs on the net!!

I was doing really well with this game, but now for the last few days, my 5000 shares suddenly appear as 5, losing 4995, it did it 8 times today already, with losing this many shares I dont stand a chance, I have emailed them twice, but no answer as to why they keep taking these shares off me, I woudl be right up the top if this didnt happen, and it only seems to happen overnight, not happy

You only get bamked overnight if you have more than 5 celebs.

I am one of those near the top and I have just been doing searches on xrank and live search to see where celeb are. If I notice them move I usually check all of the ones I have and sell them then buy the ones that are moving up instead. Most of the time I start with the ones 500 - 491 and then just sell and buy when and if I notice them move.
There was a really quick update last night which I missed but some caught. It updated the prices to what they were showing at 6am - enough time for someto be able to sell a few, then it reverted back and they were then able to rebuy them at the cheaper price.

I'm giddy from all the updates today, certainly made up for yesterday

Something strange happening with this today

It has not updated at all for me and now all my shares that were mostly on the up are all now double red arrows down but still the money remains the same - yet no more to add to the bank

I have been in and out of here all day hoping for an update and I am currently unsure as to why I am still torturing myself with it

There was an extremely quick update at 12:20 EST. Managed to sell off my shares and then bought again. Probably be left with no cash to trade with in the morning now.

No change at all overnight. Everything still the same as yesterday.

There were at least 3 updates yesterday.

The reason that it appeared that there has been no change is that the SAME celebrities went up and down on ALL the updates - all within about 10 mins or so

So if you missed checking the site at the update time (which was all over in 10 mins) it would have appeared that there had been no update.

eg: Ashley Judd went up to 49.00*
If you quickly sold you would have made a profit
Then in 10 mins or less she was 0.50* again

* just made these figures up for the example.

So if you caught the update, the wise thing was to reinvest in the same celebrities again and that is how the high banked amounts were made.

Was lucky to catch a few while out at friends

So much "Not Responding", freezing, and a lot of me trying to select a celeb to buy and the computer thinking, then just taking me back to the "Search Celebrities" page. I've got broadband, but due to my location (in the sticks!), it's not the best. Oh well, persistance is the key!

wow, we had a massive improvement in the leader board last night.. I went from 22 to 11 and miss12 went from 16 to 8....

We were lucky enough to catch a couple of those quick updates they did yesterday... especially the one that was after midnight, was just about to shut the computer down, quick check and shares had gone up, with-in minutes, they went down again...

I hope they dont continue to run it like this or no other comping is gonna get done especially with that FriendMagnet game lol

yep I miss out constantly as I know I am not putting in the time to this comp which is needed. As with 'normal' sharing trading you have to be on the ball - so well done to those persevering with this. I am ranked horrid however so be it.

Okay I took the risk and went and sold one of my "zero" shares to see what was happening with the other shares and its seems that anyone shares that are a '0' have all moved out of top 500 - so you might want to relook at your portfolio - or hold onto them - whatever your decide - but its definitely not a "system fault"

When all my shares flatlined earlier today, I bought Jason Gillespie for 0.50c. A minute later he was $15.00 so I sold quick smart. Went back in to replace him with another celeb I saw him back at 0.50c so bought him again.... Weird.

All my celebs are now back at the price I paid this morning. I sold one half an hour ago and bought Julie Christie for .30c and now she's gone up to $14.80. Weird

Does anyone have any problem with losing shares?

For example: I have 10 Celebrities and brought 5000 shares for each one but this morning when I woke up, 4 of them had gone down to 5 shares and 1 of them have gone down to 4138 shares.


This has happened to me a few times. I thought it was hackers getting into my account and have been changing passwords all the time. I also have sent a complaint to the site itself but have had no reply.

Does it happen to anyone else?

Mine was loading so slow. I had one worth $250000 and pressed sold just as it changed to $2500 instead

Yes - am sure it is glitches in the site - otherwise it wouldn't revert to exactly as it was - definitely benefits people with a faster internet connection who can buy and sell quickly.

I sold all mine last night, got up this morning and I had over $1.9mill. They didnt bank it for some reason?!?!?! Mind you I've dropped over 20 places now

Layz - you have to keep at least 5 celebrities in your portfolio for them to bank your money.

It will catch up with you tonight though - just make sure you have the 5 celebrities.

Ok, I am majorly suss about this comp....I don't believe that the celebs' prices change due to the amount they are searched at all.

I always go for the celebs that are under $1...

The other day I noticed that most of them had the surname LEE or the surname started with the letter L, then on another day they were all females, another day they were all starting with the letter J etc....

Today, I have noticed while looking at my portfolio that the surnames all end with the letter K...

Coincidence? I don't think so!

There was an update at about 1pm - very brief. My work computer (very naughty of me) - kept crashing so I could only manage to sell everything and the buy 5 poeple over an hour!

I don't know RB - something has changed?

I went through and bought the bottom 10 celebrities - starting at Katherine H for 10c... but if you look it says I bought her at 40c and she is now worth 10c.

Others have gone down too and some stayed the same. If you look at Alexis Bledil - it says I bought her at 80c - yet she is now worth 1.00.

As I said - I only got to buy these about 5.30 this avo - so not sure what has happened?

Go into my portfolio in the lottos syndicate and it might be easier to see what I am getting at???

Your bought prices do look odd Tye. I also had to work and bought my shares at 5.30 pm and my bought price and current price are the same value.

As Timtam pointed out all the cheapies end with the letter L.

If you look at ranks 210 (Tony Jaa) to the last one 1122 (Jay-Z) they are sorted alphabetically by the last letter in their name.

Except for the first 25 or so, up to 210 they are sorted in groups alphabetically by their first initial.

There's nothing random about this comp

If the purpose of running this comp is to get ninemsn having lots of searches done, maybe they are hoping that the comp will make people search a lot to make the prices go up.

When I logged in this morning there was one celeb to sell (after all the updates last night) and then there were updates immediately after I sold that share this morning

These new updates probably happened before you logged in.

From what I have seen it plays catch up most times anyway
eg: because you missed the morning update, your shares might all go up during the day, whilst because I caught the catch up this morning mine might all go to zero or a mix of going up and going to zero.

Its a bit hit and miss on deciding whether to sell or not each time.

If your share values are 0 it would be because the shares dropped again in value after 2am.
Which is when they share values are autobanked.

It depends though if there were any stock changes from when you logged in? Maybe there were drops in the celebrity stock you had from where they took the shares - and they dropped later - before you logged in?

It auto banked 3.4 million for me this morning, however it left me with 5 shares in about 8 of my people, and some shares in the last two, however when I sold my shares I got got $4920.00 - so it didn't leave me $10,000 to invest today grrr.

I slipped from 50 to 67 overnight and I was routinely checking the darn thing except when kids were playing Spore on 1 computer and hubby playing World of Warcraft on the other and going out for 4 hours for a coffee and watching Dr Who and doing study etc etc etc

$12 Mil is possible to bank on a day when there are heaps & heaps of updates like Sunday but yesterday was a sorta quiet one so I guess they went the wrong way about it and got caught out.

So that's 2 portfolios gone now. My theory with this one is have a bit of fun with it, catch the updates when I can (usually the late at night ones - love it when there's a few in a row , and be in the running for the weekly draws.

Every time you make a transaction you get 1 entry into the draw. So the more you buy and sell the more entries you have in the weekly draw. First place at the end of the comp also wins a big cash prize. Currently a Lotto's members husband is leading the charge.

Yep I believe that every transaction you make gives you more entries but I would say that you would have to buy and sell the same celeb after each change-over period otherwise it would probably not register.

You needed to have logged in first thing to cash in and buy new stock and then stayed on the site to capture the update. Stocks have now returned to what was available as new stock this morning

Turned the computer off then on and reloaded and I must have caught this update. I checked just after you guys posted the earlier updates so maybe something to do with needing to completely refresh the computer. I know some updates are super fast and ATM all the cheapies are the same as last night

I am still unable to get onto Fixated .....i can get onto lottos and any other site on the net ...it keeps coming up with IE CANNOT DISPLAY THIS PAGE...........very strange.
I have been playing all day.....may have been too successful and have been blocked for the rest of the night.....

I had major problems as well. Was locked out for what seemed like ages (half hour plus) when updates were happening at one point. grrrrrrr! I refreshed not long ago and it said something like service not available. Then I refreshed

Yes overnight they bank all but $10000. So to do that they sell your highest value shares (but always leave you at least 5 shares in a celeb). Take a look at the info on autobank for more detailed explanation

damn thing - updated - in the process of buying ( only got to 3 shares ), got dumped, log back in and my 3 shares and worth 0 - go to buy off my list of a few I had quickly written down and they ARE NOT ON THE LISTS ANYMORE..... WT HECK???

i know, my guy had three great shares, sold one then went to sell another worth around $30 and it was back at 20c.

you have to watch the price when buying or selling i have noticed that what it says before i click to go to buy or sell it doesn't mean that the price will be the same on the next page.

Im really starting to get sick of playing this as its not based on real results and with the way they are running it, its so fake and now they are dong all this stuff that is very unpredictable which doesnt make it fun anymore......
and I cant see us 2 here playing it for the full 6 months as we do have other lives, movies to go and see that we have won tickets for....

The other night while we are out, we walked pasted a internet cafe and suggusted we go in and check our shares.... LOL ... that gave me a sign that I should get over it hehe

I have been been putting in alot of time and energy in the hope of winning a weekly prize, seeing my 25WOL for other comps are not yielding any results

Seeing their blurb for weekly prizes said "the more you play the more chances of winning", I kept at it.

After last week's draw, not seeing a Top 20 winner, which to me contradicted the "the more you play the more chances of winning" theory, I contacted them to clarify how the weekly prizes were drawn.

This is the reply

I interpret this to mean that as long as you play at least once in the week, you are in with an equal chance of winning a weekly prize.

Problem is that 6 months is a long time.. cant understand why they decided to run it for that long...

I know we will never get near the top anymore... so we are just hoping for a weekly prize at least, cant be that many still playing it is there?

I've only been playing two and half weeks and have fun with the updates especially when theres three or four in a row but no updates for coming up 26 hours is just ridiculous can't really call the autobank change an update because that has to happen regardless at 2am everyday. There were no updates yesterday as far as i know.....but you can still bank profits even on a day when their has been no changes or updates. If before 2am... you only have to have less than 5 celebs and the money you have wont be banked so you will have money to play with the next day...

For those stressing about having a few days away from Fixated don't panic. I know we should be enjoying this game but it is a bit stressful It would be good if we could play when we feel like it, not when the game decides.

Anyway, I went on a week's holiday. Before I left my rank was somewhere in the 200s. When I got back I had jumped up to 90 in the rank at some stage. I have never managed to get back up to 90 since I'm clawing my way back up from the 200s again.

So, if you do have to go away, make sure you've got some celebs you've heard of and are likely to stay in the top 500 and you will still make money and have celebs when you get back.

If there were no updates yesterday, how come 2 people in the top 20 banked approx $3.6m and $9.5m. Maybe there were lots of quick updates at unsociable hours? Or am I missing something?? ... Quite possible!

EDIT: ok, understand now. Reading back to Tarzwal's post, it would also depend on what was in their portfolio when 2am autobanking happened. Thanks for the explanation.

Interesting point, and excuse me for being thick But, if it was just auto banking, the max amount of shares is 50000 and the max price they go up to is $50, so at 2am when it banks they could only possibly have $2.5 million at the most - unless there were updates? Or am I way off track...

If you look at my post above that explaines why you can bank more than zero in a day when their are no updates.

A-ha! So you can play for a week (for example) and not bank anything by having less than 5 in your portfolio at 2am? I've been too nervous to try that, I just assumed you lost it. Great to know, thanks! :-)

Not sure if you all know this already, but an easy way to find the cheapo celebs quickly is to view the source code on the 'Buy a celeb' page.

When you are on the 'Buy a Celeb' screen that has the drop down list, just right click and select View Source on the menu. That opens the page source code. Then just go Edit -> Find and type in $0.10 and it will show you who is 10c. etc.

The other thing you could do in the dropdown menu, once you know who you're looking for, is actually type the first few letters in of their name. The cursor should then jump straight to their name.
