Rabbiting On
From causing devastation to inspiring ingenuity and science, the rabbit has changed forever the Australian landscape. The ABC now wants to hear your
stories.
The Competition:
It's 150 years since rabbits arrived in mainland Australia.
Released near Geelong, Victoria in 1859 for hunting, by the early 1900s rabbits had become one of the worst pests the continent had ever seen.
We want to hear YOUR stories of the rabbit invasion, in our Rabbiting On short-story telling competition.
Two winners will each receive an exclusive holiday for four at Scotia Wildlife Sanctuary in south-western NSW, including flights, accommodation, meals
and sightseeing.
Stories can be fact or fiction, and must be 500 words or less.
The two entries which best demonstrate a personal connection and the impact of the rabbit invasion on regional Australia will win. The winning stories
will also be aired on ABC Radio.
