not sure how to play. Do I click on the link when the timer has finished or do I have to search to it?

once the timer goes off your will be able to click on the banner and follow the pages clicking on the baners until you get to the end.

Do they send you a confirmation email if you win? I've got no idea if mine went through or not...after I entered my details and submitted, i got a white screen for ages, then eventually it took me to the sign in page.

They're still available. I just got one after being knocked off the first time and having to sign in again. SOOOO frustrating. Anyway, it's much quicker now as I guess everybody thinks they're too late.
