Prize Frenzy™

The Fringe is now in full swing, and while it's a good time to get excited, Frenzor (tm) advises that you pace yourself so that you last out the season without getting burnt out by the endless cavalcade of street performers, burlesque shows and bare feet. It's that same spirit that reminds everyone that they cannot win prizes in consecutive editions, so they should choose well. Of course, there are some doozies in this edition, so you'd be a fool to miss out, especially as all you have to do is dial 8231 0881 as soon as you hear the Triple J News theme telling you it's 1 o'clock on Friday 6 March, and name your prize.

1. Alistair Wallis chats to the lovely Luiza S‡ from CSS ahead of their appearance at the expanded Future Music Festival on Monday 9 March, and if you'd like to spend the public holiday grooving to the likes of the sexy Brazilians, Basement jazz, N.E.R.D, Paul Oakenfold and stacks of other acts, you'd best be quick to grab a double pass.

2. Alistair's been busy this week, because he also talks to the intriguing songstress come lately Jane Badler, who's playing at The Garden Of Unearthly Delights' Bosco Theatre on Thursday 12 March with Melbourne underground act SIR, and three lucky readers can earn themselves a double pass each with a simple phone call.

3. Also in the Garden, but over at Le Cascadeur, are The Dirty Brothers, who present 'The Dark Party'. The kamikaze clown princes of sideshow smash craft a new form of extreme theatre with swords, broken glass, staple guns, singing saws, power tools and car batteries, and if you're brave enough to still be reading, you're probably just the type of person to enjoy a double pass to their performance on Tues 10 March.

4. Art Brakhage chats to the winsome Inara George of retro Californian duo Bird And The Bee in this issue, and thanks to EMI there are three copies of their latest album, the recently released 'Ray Guns Are not Just The Future', to give away.

5. Steve Jones has seen as many Fringe shows as any man alive, and so it's a good sign that he enjoyed 'Caddyshack & Other Dangerfields'. You can read his review in this edition, and if you think it might tickle your funny bone, grab one of three double passes to the show on Sunday 8 March at Maxim's Wine Bar in Norwood.

6. James McKenzie chats to Death Angel singer Mark Osegueda, and finds him every bit as likable as he did Armored Saint's Gonzo Sandoval last edition. It logically follows, then, that when the two bands play together with local support Truth Corroded at HQ on Fri 13 March, they'll do their utmost to make sure they put on a great show, especially once they find out that four dB readers will be heading along their with double passes.
