3. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an
entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry
process (including but not limited to tampering by way of use of techniques designed to avoid the
payment of SMS costs) or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and
Conditions. Errors and omissions will be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to
enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
4. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.
5. Multiple entries permitted subject to the following: (a) only one (1) entry is permitted per Qualifying
Purchase (Qualifying Purchase may be made in separate transactions); (b) each entry must contain valid
receipt number(s) for the Qualifying Purchase(s); (c) if more than one (1) Qualifying Purchase has been
made in the one transaction, then the same receipt number may be used again, provided that each time
the receipt number is entered, it corresponds to a Qualifying Purchase that has not previously been
entered; (d) if entering the same receipt number, the entrant can only enter it a maximum of five (5) times
and all these entries must be submitted on the same day (for the purposes of this promotion, the start and
close of each day will be based on Sydney Local Time); and (e) each entry must be submitted separately
and in accordance with entry requirements. Each mail entry must be in a separate stamped envelope.
6. Entrants must retain a photocopy of their Woolworths or Safeway purchase receipt(s) for all entries as
proof of purchase. Failure to produce the required proof of purchase for all entries when requested may,
in the absolute discretion of the Promoter, result in invalidation of ALL of an entrant’s entries and
forfeiture of any right to a prize.
7. SMS messages must be sent from a mobile phone handset and be identified by a MSISDN for security
reasons (unique SIM number) to be eligible. Any form of automated entry using the internet or any other
device is invalid. Premium SMS cost is 55c (including GST). Entrants must have premium service access.
Any SMS entries submitted after the promotion period has closed will not be included in the promotion
and will be charged $0.55c (including GST). The charges for all SMS entry services will appear on each
entrant’s next mobile phone bill. All queries relating to mobile phone bills should be directed to the
entrants mobile or telephone carrier. SMS winners will be contacted by SMS and/or phone and the
Promoter will record their address details so that the prize may be awarded. SMS entries via the Internet
are ineligible. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the promotion database and

8. Promotion commences at 12.01am AEDST on 16/02/09 and closes at 5pm AEDST on 15/03/09. All
entries must be received by 3pm AEDST on 25/03/09 for SMS and online entries, and last mail received
on 25/03/09 for mail entries. The draw will take place at Brass Tacks, 57 Herbert St, Artarmon, NSW,
2064 on 26/03/09 at 3pm AEDST. The winners will be notified by mail. Winners’ names (for prizes over
$250) will be published in The Australian Newspaper on 16/04/09. The Promoter's decision is final and no
correspondence will be entered into.
9. The first ten (10) valid entries drawn from all entries received will each win $10,000 in the form of a
crossed cheque or direct deposit, at the Promoters discretion, in the amount of $10,000 made out to the
winner.
10. The next fifty (50) valid entries drawn from all entries received will each win a $1,000 Woolworths WISH
Gift Card.
11. Woolworths Limited is the issuer of the WISH Gift Card but is not the promoter of the offer and is

16. The winners of a prize must produce identification in a form acceptable to the Promoter before taking

20. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and
agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage
(including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of
the Promotion, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties
or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised
access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or

Would it just be the specific brands that are sold in the deli department - like the items shown in the pic on the entry page or do you think this includes over the counter deli items too - like cold meats, etc.

I take it to be any items that are sold in the deli section - either over the service counter or the couple of fridges located in the department (eg block cheese, pizza base, salami, fancy cheeses etc - this is what my local one has). Also that it includes the roast chooks and salads.


In terms of the brands, I assume this is just showing who their suppliers are - and gives them all a free plug too!


Good to see that we can have 5 X $5 deli purchases in the one transaction (and use that same receipt number for the 5 entries) - makes it a lot easier!

Each entry (qualifying purchase is what they are calling it in the terms) needs to be over $5

stupid question from me, if I bought ham, bacon and devon and the total of all three is $5 can I enter?? Or do I have to spedn over $5 on 1 thing. Thought I had this thing sussed but I am having a moment or three

I asked at the deli counter and they said only the 'Famous brands' on the leaflet were included. i.e only packaged goods from the deli fridges with those brands.

I just asked our local deli manager and she says 'anything' from the deli can be purchased for entry.

Ok now a dumb question from me what if I purchase 2 items from the deli both are around $3.50 and they total $7 does that qualify for 1 entry. OR must 1 of the purchases have been over $5

I purchased 2 items yesterday totally more than $5 on the same receipt so one entry for me.

But in response to an earlier comment about only being able to purchase the items shown on the form, my deli now has for example, inghams chicken roll etc and the price thingys also now state the brand on them.

Never had it like this before so it is great, as now I can purchase my $5 of Dorsongna lite honey ham etc, picking and choosing my way along the deli cabinet as I want.

Got caught however with a prepacked product from open deli cabinet, was sure it was more than $5 but scanned thru at $4.98

I emailed them for clarification on which purchases are eligible but still have not had a reply. I'm just going to enter and hope for the best

I've asked at two different Safeways Delis - one said it's only for 'famous brands' and definitely not all their meat and stuff over the counter and the other said it definitely is for all products including deli ham etc over counter.
Anyone got a concrete response?

I think to be on the safe side of entering I would only buy the 'famous brands' that are shown on the bottom of the entry form. I'm sure these are the 'qualifying purchases'

It does say 'famous' brands not anything

Thats what I thought. But there is no specific list in the t+c's so I think if you won you could argue that technicality!!

I think those brands just happen to be the suppliers and they're being acknowledged on the forms - eg Tasmanian Heritage may be the ones who make the Woolies block cheese you get in the deli (not saying that they are, just they could well be).

Lots of "name" companies make the "home-brand" or "no-name"stuff, and don't put their name on it.

I know for a fact that Golden North in South Australia makes the Black & Gold ice cream.


I've never seen any brand names on the items in the deli cabinets to tell me who makes it, so wouldn't have a clue if I was buying a 'famous brand' or not.

I've noticed recently (last few months) that the products on display in the cabinet do have a brand name (in my Woolies...well, not mine.... ).
I bought some chicken today and it was marked 'Inghams'. Also recently bought ham which had 'KR' on the printed label and roast beef labelled 'Hans'.

I think Woolies is trying to impress on us that all the deli brands are 'Famous' brands.

I actually noticved about a year ago that they started specifying who made the deli items. I actually find it good to be able to compare the packaged KR sliced meats to the deli KR sliced ... very interesting when price comparing. I remember thinking when I first noticed it that it seemed a strange thing to notice. Maybe they are trying to promote the fact that they do now specify where the meat and other deli items originate from

I think it is any deli purchase over $5....they have comp tags all over the deli counters. Can't see any specific brands/goods mentioned in the T&C's...

can we have the close date changed please, now before it goes into expired comps, but it was good to have it on purchase date as i was cursing myself that i had a few entries to still do and got home to late.

I asked the shop assistant (a young lad) to wrap up 2 lots of $5 of bacon. Had to go outside the store, so left my 12 yr old son there to put it in the trolley. When I got to the check-out discovered one pkt with $10 worth ....... so raced back to the deli to have it repacked into 2 pkts, also grabbed some camenbert cheese.

I thought I'd trained my son about my comp quirks, obviously not.
