Named after an anthology of poems by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and founded in 1999 by Argentine-Israeli conductor Daniel Barenboim and the late Palestinian-American academic Edward Said, the West-Eastern Divan is a youth orchestra dedicated to embracing tolerance and understanding in the name of peace.

Comprised of young musicians from Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, the aim of the West-Eastern Divan is to promote understanding between Israelis and Palestinians, paving the way for a peaceful and fair solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Originally scheduled to play Gizeh, Cairo, but cancelled due to political instability this much anticipated concert was moved to the Alhambra in Granada, Spain a World Heritage Site built and preserved over a period of social tolerance and cultural flowering, where the three great religions lived together in an atmosphere of acceptance and mutual respect during the Moorish era.

The concert features:
L.V. Beethoven: Leonore Overture No.3
Johannes Brahms: Symphony No.1
Giovanni Bottesini: Fantasia on a theme by Rossini (arranged by Michinori Bunya)
Richard Wagner: Tristan und Isolde “Liebestod“

To be in the draw for this prize, fill in the online form below.
This competition is open to Australian residents only.
Employees of the Australian Jewish News and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
There are 20 DVDs to be won.
Each DVD is worth $29.95.
Competition entries close on Friday March 27, 2009 at noon.
The winners will be drawn at the AJN Melbourne office on Friday March 27, 2009.
The winners will be drawn randomly and contacted by phone or email using contact details provided in their entry.
The winners' names will be published in AJN Melbourne & Sydney editions on Friday April 3, 2009.
The winner must must pick up their prize from either the Sydney or the Melbourne AJN offices, located at Level 1, 10-14 Waterloo Street, Surry Hills and Level 1, 589 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick respectively.
The prizes must be collected by 12.00pm on Friday April 24, 2009. Any prizes not collected by this time will be forfeited.
AJN may, at its sole disrection, arrange for transportation of prizes however, they do not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to the prizes in transit.

Might be nationwide but I don't think I'll enter:

I email them ages ago they said they would send out prize but will not guarantee that if it does not arrive
