Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

b. Log onto http://www.smh.com.au/ultimate
c. Become a Fairfax Digital member and register their details including (but not limited to) first name, last name, postcode, phone number, e-mail address and the daily code word.
d. Sign up to the smh.com.au Traveller newsletter
Daily code words will receive one (1) entry into the daily draw. The online bonus code word will receive one (1) entry into the promotion. The daily code word can only be entered once per person per day. The online bonus code word can only be entered once per person during the promotional period.
Once a participant’s entry has been submitted the entrant will be given the opportunity to refer three friends to the competition. If the entrant refers three (3) friends they will receive three (3) bonus entries into the promotion. Each referred friend must include a valid, unique e-mail address.

Clover there is only one bonus code which is TRAVELLER and can be only used once during the entire promotion

Dont know about others but I buy each and every mag, paper etc that I need to enter comps for. Especially like this one where is states purchase is required. Sorry I know others will get annoyed at my comments but it really gets up my goat when I go out and spend the money for the comp and others rely on answers provided on here.

The Telegraph comp from a while back you had to keep the masthead from the paper. that would have been an easy way to do it so it was fair & square, or, as the Australian did, have a coupon.

imagine how many offices/cafes etc etc would have the paper and have ppl entering

I’m a bit bemused why it’s such an issue that people are following the t@cs for this particular comp?

I can’t see that it is any different to the heaps of comps that require you to purchase a mag or watch a particular TV program for a codeword.

I think the promoter's make the terms and conditions work for THEM and I agree in this case they want people to sign up to the newsletter, hence the referral thing...they know you will probably tell your friends the codeword anyway so the aim is not to sell more newspapers...if it were they would have made it a condition to keep the masthead. I feel that if it is not a condition of entry there is not really a problem sharing the codes. After all it is no secret that comping clubs exist especially the famous lottos club so promoters are well aware that this info gets passed around.
They are running these comps to achieve their purposes,, not out of the goodness of their hearts!
