kismet - 30-3-2009 @ 09:07 AM

I thought it was pronounced MARR / MAHR or MAYER perhaps.

& edit...from IMDB

Trivia
He joins actress Kate Ritchie in the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest serving actor on an Australian drama series.

After leaving school he played Rugby Union football and represented the State of Queensland in several games.

His surname is surprisingly pronounced 'Marr'. The most common mispronunciation of his name is 'Meegar'.

Stated in an interview that, despite being fortunate enough to have played the part of Alf Stewart for nearly 20 years, Muriel's Wedding was one of the projects he had to turn down due to his commitment to Home and Away.

So yes, it's just MARR.

Flutterby - 30-3-2009 @ 09:23 AM

belle74 - 31-3-2009 @ 08:22 AM

Not sure of answer yet.
Q. How many foster children came to the bay in episode 1?

A. 3,4,5 0r 6

I know Carly, Steven and Sally, anyone got any more or do you think the answer is 3?

Firefly61 - 31-3-2009 @ 08:40 AM

Thanks very much belle74 for the question- I missed it.

I found this:

the series' original premise was that husband Tom (Roger Oakley) and wife Pippa (Carol Willesee, wife of current affairs host Mike Willesee) were unable to have children of their own, so instead they had taken five foster children into their care - ranging from 'streetwise' Frank (Alex Papps) down to pint-size Sally (Kate Ritchie). The rest of the brood was made up of Steven (Adam Willits), Carly (Sharyn Hodgson) and Lyn (Helena Bozich).

Plus Bobby became the sixth foster child by the end of episode 1! She was hiding out in one of the caravans when they arrived, so technically she didn't come to the Bay.

So is the answer is 5 or 6? :) I think I'll go with 5

belle74 - 31-3-2009 @ 08:52 AM

I wonder if someone taped this to get the correct wording of the Question, It was so quick, that's all I could remember, didn't think it would be tricky.
