What to do with old eye-glasses?

Hi guys,

I have just purchased some new glasses, as the prescription on the old pair werent strong enough.
I wanted to know if anyone is aware of charities, or somewhere that could use the old pair?? I know I spent close to $400 on them, so surely someone would accept old pairs??

Thanks!

there was an ad on tv the other day i saw about this, i think it was spec savers and they send them to south america, not 100% sure of the company but one of the bigger names do it and its such a valuable worthwhile cause, good on you naynay for thinking of it

I just did a search (Yahoo)...'donating old glasses to charity' and lots of sites came up. You might find something there.

Our optomistrist has a special box that our old glasses go into and frames are sent to those in need:) Will check it out when I go there next, but I am sure it was overseas:)

My local primary school had a drive to collect old glasses for third world countries...I got rid of all my late father's collection that I "inherited."

Same here. Check your local optometrists. I'm sure you'll find one in your area that does the same.

Most optometrist stores will pass them on to charitable organisations.

Your local Lions Club should take them, and often Chemists will collect on their behalf
