My daughter who was school captain said to be confident
and put forward the reasons as to why you will be a good captain
eg, a good listener and not afraid of a challenge.
Believe and speak from the heart.
Goodluck;);););)

Kids usually list:

How long they've been at the school

What they've been involved in e.g. sports/dance/debating

Maybe throw in a funny memory...esp of a teacher (kids love to laugh at teachers).

What they envision for the school in the coming year and how they'd like to be involved.

Good luck to your daughter!

:)

PS...tell her not to speak too quickly!

Your'e welcome!!!!! I remember offering to help my daughter and she wouldn't let me.
I was amazed by what she wrote.
Use the points Veritas suggested, I remember my daughter had some great memories which had many people laughing.

My son did one at primary school and rhymed the first half.

Starting off "My school, my teachers, my students hear
my plea, Johnny Smith is who you need......

Then a rhyme on each of the 5 keys promoted in schools eg. Confidence, emotional resistance, getting along, persistence, organisation.

Example: "With confidence I know I can do this task,
a vote from you is all I ask.

Then he finished off just saying how long he'd been in the school etc, even a bit about the school's history.

Became school captain at primary school.

Then he did one to get on the school council at High School.
At this stage was over the rhymes. Told him his first and last sentences should capture the group. The only rhyme he did was at the end when he used the school Motto

"Tolle Lege. take up and read, Johnny Smith is who you need!"

Be original, and try to include ideas others may not include.
Also mention your fellow students in it and show you geniunely want to help them.

e.g. "From prep to grade 7 your all my mates, you can approach me there's no mistake."

He got on the school council, they don't seem to have a lot of say, discuss things like World Teachers Day and their Walkathon.

Hope this helps

IF HE RE-RUNS FOR SCHOOL COUNCIL, has anyone got any new ideas of what he could put in his speech???
