I think I got one of these a few days ago. Strange it tells you to long into your own PayPal account though. How can they defraud you then?

p.s. I deleted the email too.

When you click on the "click here" link in the fake email, it re-directs you to their website that LOOKS like paypal. If you hover your mouse cursor over the click here link, then look at your address bar down the bottom of your window, it will show you a different website rather than www.paypal.com :)

Thanx for the warning, I received one too- but what's strange is I don't even have a paypal account:o. I've only made a few purchases from e-bay and I've only used D/Dep.

Yes, I delete ALL emails from them, because every fake I have reported to the real guys, they tell me they can't do anything about them

I've had a few but the email adress was iPayPal - you have to look carefully to see the "i".

frunue, if you follow their link to log into your account, it won't really be your account and they'll get your details. It's also possible that they'd ask you to transfer funds from your bank.

My rule is "If I didn't instigate it, I don't trust it".

***ALL PAYPAL AND EBAY EMAILS WILL ALWAYS ADDRESS YOU WITH YOUR USERNAME OR REAL NAME!

Use this as a rule of thumb if you are not sure.

Re paypal did anyone buy from

Recently the only way I have used my paypal account is through "Deals Direct" and that is when the email arrived has anyone else bought from them with paypal. Deals Direct are great I have bought a few items recently and they are prompt with delivery but wondering if they have a bug in there works.

I got one of these fake emails a while ago, and discover they also put a cookie on your computer. Once you open the letter, it applies the cookie. Please check in your cookies for names like fake and similar names and delete them.

michelle-a-belle, I buy from Deals Direct and use PayPal all the time to pay them, but no dodgey emails here and I last purchased near Xmas time, so I'd say no, it's not them.

Most of these scams are just randomly generated, from email lists they get their hands on.

If you have an ebay account and you're still unsure if an email is real, then just check your ebay inbox under 'messages' as all genuine correspondence will be sent there. If there's no messages there then it's a fake.

I didn't get one of these emails, but my paypal account got hacked into this week. The buggers used my account to buy vodaphone prepaid charge cards. The good thing was paypal was onto it straight away and put a stop to it very quickly. I am always very very careful but it just goes to show that it does happen even with something like paypal.
