How much did you win in 2014?
Still plenty of time to win, but I post these thread early to link to previous year's polls. You don't have to do the poll yet, there may be a big win
for some of us just around the corner.
Link for 2013 Poll - http://www.lottos.com.au/competitions/viewthreadlite.php?tid...
Link for 2012 Poll -
http://www.lottos.com.au/competitions/viewthreadlite.php?tid...

Link for 2010 Poll - http://www.lottos.com.au/competitions/viewthreadlite.php?tid...
(Someone else set up the poll in 2012 and I've searched but still can't find it. If someone can find it, let me know and I'll put a link up.)
Feel free to stay anonymous and just click on the amount you've won, or you can add a message
if you wish. |

Total responses – ....... 256 ............ 325 ............... 216 ............ 297
Median - ............. $7,327 ....... $15,819 ........... $8,590 .......... $7,888
Median (where 50% of people won more & 50% have won less) - I just calculated where it would fall if the wins fell evenly across the range. So
it's not totally accurate but gives us a figure to work with.
Won less than $1,000
2010 - 10% (1 in 10 members)
2011 - 15% (1 in 7 members)
2013 - 14% (1 in 7 members)
2014 - 18% (1 in 6 members)
Over $50,000 (our big winners)
2010 - 8.3% (1 in 12 members)
2011 - 5.9% (1 in 17 members)
2013 - 5.1% (1 in 19 members)
2014 - 7.5% (1 in 13 members)
Just by these statistics alone, up to 2013, more people are winning less than $1,000 and less people are winning over $50,000.
For 2014, even more people are winning less than $1,000. However, the trend has turned at the upper end and we have more people winning over $50,000
(the same high as in 2010).
The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer!
Lottos Grand Total winnings:
2010 - $6,075,719
2011 - $5,492,744
2012 - $4,246,730
2013 - $4,091,122
2014 - $3,682,107 |

Just curious
but can you put up the win totals for the last couple of years? Would that not give the members an idea of whether there actually is less "money"
around in prizes.

Just over $49000, though I am still awaiting some prizes, so I put up to $50000, you never know a few weeks to go, anything is possible
Thanks Smiley, I love looking at the statistics

Wow! I didn't expect this many responses so soon. I'm on around $45,000 but I'm holding off clicking the $40k-$50k category in hope of a big win
before the end of the year. Hey, it can't hurt to be optomistic!
And thanks RAD for the link, I'll add it to the first post.

That would take a fair bit of searching on my behalf, unless Andrew or a mod can access the info quickly.
Keep in mind that some people (like myself) who used to post their wins no longer do so, so that would affect the total too.

Ok, did a bit of searching and have found the end of year totals for 2012 & 2013 and have put them in the initial post. I can't go back further
than that with searches.

tryinagain, this is a copy of a post I made just over 12 months ago which seems to indicate that there is less "money" about in prizes.
Have to agree, wins have dried up to just a trickle for me.
Out of curiosity, just searched for total Lottos wins for the year to today's date back to 2009.
2009 $4,556,701.25
2010 $5,305,920.07
2011 $4,549,112.95
2012 $3,406,852.45
2013 $3,323,304.52
http://www.lottos.com.au/competitions/viewthreadlite.php?tid...
Not a large sample I know, but a definite downward trend (2010 may have been an aberration) of 25ish%.
Perhaps Andrew or Mods could retrieve figures for previous years?
I'm not giving up though, still entering, entering, entering and waiting on return of WPCs, WEMs and LWEs (are there still such things in today's
age?).
2006 wins $13660
2007 wins $240
2008 wins $1512
2009 wins $3669
2010 wins $726
2011 wins pathetic
2012 wins even worse!
2013 wins $671
2014 wins $114
2015 wins $347
2016 wins $450
2017 wins $290
2018 wins $90
2019 wins $195
2021 wins $3400
2022 wins $1000
2023 wins $15,990
2024 wins $250

Before I add them to my list above, I just noticed that your figures are different to mine. My 2012 & 2013 are as follows:
Lottos Grand Total winnings:
2012 - $4,246,730
2013 - $4,091,122
I think you might have listed the figure in the last post of the year and not from the first post of the following year which shows the grand total
from the previous year.

I'm only at about $7000 this year... but the year's not over yet, and I have my fingers crossed for a couple of biggies
EDIT: I just won a $2750 trip to Adelaide, so that increases my total. Not far off my $10k yearly average now |

Just got over the $30,000 mark thanks to a holiday to New York win.
This is my highest total in a year in 17 years of keeping records. Without the holiday win my total would have been about $4,000. |

Yes, thanks Smiley. As I mentioned in my post, those figures of mine were only up to the date of my post (19/11) each year for comparison purposes at
that time, pixie09's full year figures confirm that sad trend unfortunately.

I'm not sure what you can read from end of year figures, unless you know membership information (Andrew probably can provide) and also reporting rates
(difficult to know). It's possible that the average member is now winning more, but there are fewer of us, or alternatively, more and more members
are not reporting wins (as Smiley alluded to). Both factors will influence the total. |

I slacked off a lot this year but its been my best year, $7500. I am usually around $5000. Most of this year was in cash so even better. I want to
start doing more comps so I'm hopeful for 2015. |
