i agree with you silver. the only thing I "Won" from Plus Rewards were tickets to a caravan and camping show and the tickets never arrived despite
telephone calls . Still received no apology or compensation they could have sent me a movie ticket or something?? . I wont be paying for these rewards
again, is a complete waste of money! No communication from them either.

Ha Ha, I thought I was the only one getting fat on all that Cadbury chocolate we have to buy for comps, not winning anything in that department,
compared to 10 years ago, winning is the only thing that is slimming |

After five years of comping I am finding it hard to bother entering a lot of things, maybe it's just me but a lot of the fun seems to have gone out of
it.
Or maybe I just need to win the big trip I am still waiting to win, to motivate me! |

I totally relate to what you've written. I used to enjoy the challenge of writing a good WOL, but it hardly seems worth it when you're in the running
with 2000-6000 other people for very minor prizes and the WOL is in full view of everybody. I still enter comps for cash, cars and experiences &
other things that take my fancy, but I've pretty well given up on Facebook comps & have noticed that many of the fun, creatively designed comps
have disappeared. I hardly check my comping phone these days. I regularly check my email because I need to delete so many product related emails on a
daily basis. I mainly entered and won great prizes via Facebook when I started comping, but those days are gone. I remember winning a prize on
Facebook that was valued at $5000. Winning another prize like that seems almost impossible these days when sooooo many people enter. I won't give up
comping, but I've got to the point where I'm pleasantly surprised if I win a free movie ticket these days! I don't put in the effort with WOL entries
that I used to. If I won something I might feel a little more enthused. My 'Whinge whinge' is over and out now |

Thanks everyone, it helps to know it's not only me feeling disillusioned!
onecanonlyhope I'm so with you re the WOL in public view on Facebook. Also feeling doubtful that my answers which I sometimes agonise over for hours
are even read, when submitting them online for purchase comps, I think they skim a hundred or so off the top, and all that effort and money is wasted. |

I'm getting sick of promoters who don't abide by their own terms and conditions and the competition closes on the right day but earlier than what it
says! This has been happening with the Today Show and Sunrise holiday competitions lately. I'll need to enter a few days earlier so I don't miss out. |

I agree with you. I wonder whether all the WOL answers are read. I'm not saying I'm the greatest at WOL answers, but I used to regularly win prizes
in WOL comps and some of my winning answers took ages to write. It hardly feels worth the effort these days when you see people win prizes with badly
written WOL answers that are well above the word limit. Wow I really AM having a whinge today I should also complain about the weather and world politics while I'm at it. |

If a company have run a comp and it has been drawn can we general public know the winner or have to wait for the announcement? |

I’ve been out of comping for three years, and starting back about six weeks ago. Have been entering about 10-15 comps a day and so far have
won..nothing. Not a movie pass in sight. Comping has really changed in the last three years! |

Firstly, I apologise in advance for posting here, I am new and didn't really know where to ask this
Anyway, I am just curious from your experience if a promotor calls you to potentially say you win a prize but you cant answer the call for some
reason and reject it, do they just pick a different winner and call the next person instead or would they keep trying you? |

The terms and conditions usually spell out how long they will try to contact you. Most big prizes seem to have a reasonable time frame, say from a
week to up to a couple of months for you to claim the prize, so they would make more than one attempt but they sometimes do and sometimes don't leave
a message I have found.
Some of the smaller ones are much quicker in redrawing, but they are generally up front about it in the terms and they are also probably prizes that
you are not really hanging out for, so you might consider it worth the risk of missing the call or the time window. I recently saw a comp that said
they will call the winner and if they leave a message and the winner does not reply within five hours they would redraw. I think that is a bit steep.
You could be at work in meetings all day or overseas in a different time zone.

Thank you so much for replying.
I was at work the other day and got a phone call but could not answer it as I was on my work phone so I had to click it off but when I googled the
number it came up as Sunshine Coast Daily which I had entered a competition for but unfortunately they did not leave a message and when I called back
it went to voicemail and I never heard anything again....Maybe it was nothing and just coincidental but it did get my mind thinking about how it all
works that's all
Thanks again |

Where has the Whinge Corner gone??
I can't find the whinge corner. (reason 1? )
2 things:
The amount of purchase comps I can't enter because of current lockdown restrictions. Can't travel more than 5kms. No guarantee this will be lifted at
next announcement. Not worth the postage for items less than $10, but not practical for more than 1 entry either. The Companies miss out as much as I.
And:
The sheer amount of Comps that are not publishing their winners on pages as stated in T&C's - that we all have to follow. Leading to almost daily, polite 'contact us' messages and phone calls. Then to
be either be ignored, told the wrong info, or have someone no even knowing they were running a Comp.
If I was 20 years younger, I would start a Company simply called
'Comp Compliance'. God knows we need one, given the Gov't Departments are clearly asleep at the wheel. Each permit issued, should automatically have
a mandatory notification date within 24 hrs of all draws to them.
Next showing that they have been published on time, as per T&C's.
Then evidence winners were contacted within specified time frame (5 working days?) as per T&C's.
Followed by evidence prize has been dispatched within the specified time frame (28 days?) as per T&C's.
A $ amount for each day, for each and every breach should apply. An additional amount for any/each/every followup, to also apply without reasonable
valid reason communicated for whatever the delay is. No accountability or discipline whatsoever at the moment.
I would have retired a millionaire, with all the non compliance fees if the current Competition climate was anything to go by, before it got cleaned
up and taken seriously. The Government is so into revenue making, here is their golden goose!
Note: Not thinking this would deter Companies from running Comps. Same permit fee application applies, and basically the same rules of Compliance they
currently ignore. Additional page to be signed by Marketing/person organising, explaining accountability, and potential $
consequence/fine/payment/penalty the only main difference. This should be in place anyway. Great way for Companies to create credibility, compliance
and loyalty, professionalism and gratitide from all consumers and customers. I would be more loyal to them, if they didn't treat my/our purchase,
effort and time with such contempt.
Rant over. Better out than keeping this daily frustration in.
