Types of comps I win
Raining! So i have discovered this

Purchase+draw 5

The other 21 I didn't record type. Probably just a FB draw.
Does anyone keep the TYPE!

I don't keep stats (apart from the brown "Won" button on Lottos!)
However, I can say that the most amazing things that I've won - such as a trip to italy, a trip to Scotland, Sydney Harbour Bridge climb - have all
been from WOL entries.
The biggest thing I can remember winning from a straight draw would have been a pet pack worth about $600 a few years ago.
In the last 6 years or so, I've also won 2 x $500 visa cards from purchase + draw. |

I've been comping for 3 years and in that time my families biggest wins have been (over $1000)
WOL - Scenic river cruise, trip to South Africa, $1000 Jetstar voucher ( on FB), $1000 Qantas voucher, Surface Pro laptop
Purchase - Trip to Italy, $5000 flight centre voucher, Byron Bay yoga retreat, Springfree trampoline, $1000 cash, $1000 foodland voucher, Trip to the
2018 AFL grand final.
I've never won anything over that value from a straight random draw. |

Do you have any tips for creating memorable WOLs? |

Something left of field and different. The surface pro question was 50WOL "what was your most memorable grand final moment?" Of course almost all of
the entries where when such and such kicked this goal or made this tackle, or this under dog team won. Mine was:
It's 1998, sitting outside the MCG,
Listening to the roar of the crowd,
Games on the radio, with my family.
Platten's wife walks by, kids in tow,
Had watched his lap of honor, wanted to go.
Free tickets to the grand final,
Took them with glee.
Crows won, Yippee! |

I'm happy to put forward my list. I do keep track of the types of comps. It's a good way to see which comps I've had more success with it. Some
overlap - eg. Purchase Comp + 25WOL
2019 Competition Wins (so far): 74
Random Web Draws: 36
25WOL: 18
Purchase Req'd: 15
Creative Entry: 2
Email: 1
SMS: 1
Radio: 2
Magazine: 1
My 3 biggest wins over $7,000 have come from a) Random Draw b) Purchase Req'd + 25WOL c) SMS |

I do it the easy way. I just enter my wins on a spreadsheet in Google Doc. That way I can tick off when the prize arrives. I use a pale colour fill
for each of the types of wins. The first column is the month of win. No row left between months so I have a record of the number of wins by row
numbers and the sheet keeps a running $ total for me.
My column headings are
Entry method PROMOTER Competition Type Prize responded $ value pr rec'd
Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

I have not entered much this year but won quite a few Wols in past. My two biggest wins which were both $10,000 cash were amazingly enough instant
online purchase entries. The first one was a DVD which I was deliberating for over 15 minutes before I purchased it after calling my hubbie to see if
he wanted it. Went home entered and thought it was a scam when the $10,000 winner came up. Great day. Happened again with the finish dishwasher tablet
comp. Good luck everyone and keep on keeping on. |

I finally worked out my stats (no gr82do...it's not raining, but I'm inside out of the heat!)
Total: 38
WOL: 8
Photo: 1
Purchase + draw: 14
Random: 9
Facebook: 2
Insta: 0
Email: 4
SMS: 0
Radio: 0
Magazine: 0
I favour purchase comps, which is probably why that stat is higher. But my biggest prizes for the past two years have been WOL.
Interesting... |
