School holiday trips - domestic
Does anyone have a family trip planned for the April school holidays?
We have a trip from Mel to Qld (Whitsundays) planned but I really don’t know what to do at this stage. Even if we are allowed to fly, would we want
to? |

Not school holidays, but for the week after. Hubby won a trip to Darwin which we're due to take the week after Easter holidays, and at this stage I
have no idea whether it's going to go ahead. NT doesn't have any cases for now, but will they shut out everyone to keep it that way? I'm happy to
delay the trip, but we're already taking it at the end of our valid period. Will have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks. |

Yes, ours is a prize win which we are taking at the end of the validity period, too. Terms say ‘act of god’ voids the prize, but ‘unforeseen
circumstances’ doesn’t. Hard to know! We added on some more accommodation to ours and they are due to charge our credit card at the end of the month. |

I live up there, Mackay just got its first case, but it was a person who was tested in NSW , then flew to Mackay, (prob FIFO) authorities then found
him and put him in Mackay Base Hospital, the way the story reads he tested positive in NSW then flew to Mackay. But in reality it could be he got
tested and flew to Mackay then found out he was positive. Either way WTF was he doing flying , if he had symptoms enough to be tested he shouldn’t of
flown? Bit of angst up here about it........ if the airline is still flying, and no rules stopping you, you may still be able to travel lot less
people up here, I’d wear masks on the plane, but you may have a better time later if they allow it, All the best with the decision making, tough one.

Thanks enchantedspirit.
Due to the fact that our tickets were booked on July 25 2019, Virgin are saying that we can only change our tickets to travel until July 25 2020. I
think things will still be bad by then. What if we had booked our tickets in April 2019? We would have no hope at all. |

Ring Virgin back tomorrow, you may get a different consultant or rules may change by then. Its worth a try and it worked for me. Not Virgin though. |

That was the travel agent who told me that. I don’t even think I would get through to virgin on the phone if I tried! |

The problems Virgin are facing right now are that their call office in the Phillipines has been shut down by government isolation orders. They are
working really hard to give people credits - even if you miss your flight, they will still honour your credit.
At this point, planes are still travelling and pilots can't work from home....these are crazy crazy times and hopefully with UQ figuring out a
treatment for Covid 19, we will be able to move forward and book our holidays and travel as much as we need. |

I just realised that I have rescheduled a trip to the school holidays. I won't be flying though. I was due to go for Hottest 100 weekend, but
changed the dates due to road closures caused by extensive fires in the area. I really need to remember to check school holiday dates when I plan
stuff like this! |

Well we just got a very late email. I real feel for the travel agents working around the clock to sort all this mess out.
They have informed us that "The Northern Territory has announced that they will introduce strict border controls from 4:00pm on Tuesday 24 March for
all access points – by road, rail, air and sea. From 4.00pm on Tuesday, people who arrive in the Northern Territory from interstate will be required
to quarantine for 14 days."
They've given us an option to re-book and a 12mth extension. I'm happy with that because we really want to go to Darwin and this virus has to end. And
we don't have to pick our dates yet. We're allowed to wait and see what happens before booking new dates.

My husband and I were due to travel to the Barossa next weekend for our wedding anniversary. I’m just waiting for an email to come through as those 10
American tourists are currently isolated At the Louise - the luxury accomodation we were meant to be staying in.
I’m so bummed.
Damn you coronavirus! |

All our travel problems have been decided for us!
Stay safe everyone, Wash your hands. Observe the social distancing recommendations and be sensible and kind as many lives depend on us all doing the
right thing. Look out for one another.
Wishing you all a happy isolation period. We're all in this together.

Damn you coronavirus! | The Louise are amazing people, I'm sure they will work something out, after this has
passed ... and you'll so appreciate, their style of spoiling (we did for our anniversary, a year ago) believe me it will be worth the wait, even though that's hard & my heart goes out to you
... so this is motivation to wash hands, distance, take care ... & tell "Every little cell in you body to stay well" you need to stay fit, for
when the sun shines on the Barossa again

Old borders closed from Wednesday and if returning from interstate one needs to self isolate for 14 days for next six months |
