Useful Tips to help us all get through the emergency.
Lottoers are a pretty resourceful bunch and I thought it would be a good idea to start a post where we can all post our useful lockdown or isolation
tips, whether household, lifestyle or anything else relating to getting through this emergency.
I'll start.
Check all your credit and debit cards - if they expire in the next month or two, you may want to investigate requesting replacements early in case
there's a problem with distribution over the next couple of months.

We've got 3 people home and 2 working. The 2 workers are now required to enter the house via the laundry, wash up and change clothes before entering
the rest of the house. I got this from a nurse in Italy, whose routine is a bit more complicated than this but then she's constantly exposed to the
coronavirus every day.
Also, I'm now doing all the cooking for the family. |

Thanks for tips Smiley.
Great idea having one person doing all the meal planning, prep and cooking is a great idea - less waste or overeating. |

I'm utilising face-time a lot and will do it even more now the borders are closing to Queensland.
Have rung our elderly neighbours to check on them and have offered to pick up any essentials from the shop on hubby's weekly visit so they are not
having to go down themselves. All precautions taken!

Not so much a tip but a suggestion.....whilst take away is available from your local small businesses maybe dedicate one night or lunch a week to
supporting them, also I have just recently ordered from A small Tasmanian business Anvers chocolate who were offering complimentary delivery which was
a bonus, no minimum spend, so I just sent gifts to friends interstate to say a gift to help you through.........of course not everyone’s budget
allows but it is something we have decided to do as long as we can.
When the world says give up
HOPE WHISPERS
try it one more time.......

Keep enough cash on hand in the house. If you are self-isolating for health reasons (but you don't have c-19) and a neighbour or a friend offers to
get something for you - it is easier to hand across cash than your credit card (if you can't pay for it online) |

These facts I have gleaned from watch Dr John Campbell UK Youtube daily updates:
They are recommending Tap only for the health and safety of the retail workers and shoppers. Cash carries the virus for around 72 hours, like it does
on hard surfaces. China is recalling and destroying it's cash and issuing new tender. I am trusting my neighbour to Tap shop for me and will trust 2
different pharmacies to drop medical items on my back seat and Tap my card also tomorrow. Using my gut feeling that is okay which is huge for me
because I never Tap! I am asking for a receipt to check online. The card needs to be wiped with antibacterial wipes on return. If possible do not
touch the shopping for 3 days to let the virus become inactive (unless it is fridge/freezer items) or wash hands 20 seconds+ if you must touch
shopping.
In China every person wears a mask whether infected or not to remind them not to touch their face. They carry a pack of tissues and use a tissue to
open any public touch service including every door handle, touching a bannister, ATM machine or any hard surface others may be touching, then they
discard the tissue in a bin
3 scientific research studies in China are showing that taking 200mg of good quality Vitamin C results in an 80% reduction in death rate and lessening
of symptoms generally. If critical they increase the Vitamin C up to 24,000 units IV.
Dr Teitelbaum from the USA (he is highly regarded and I have benefited from his research for 3 years) recommends sucking on zinc lozenges in public
places because they are anti viral. I have been sucking on zinc lozenges in isolation to help my hayfever and allergy sore throat and they truly do
make my throat feel better! |

A friend who live in Hong Kong said the locals carry around disposable toothpicks to press buttons in lifts, ATM machines and pedestrian crossings. |

RE: 72 Hours
News reports today say the from research studies that the virus was still found on surfaces in cabins on the Diamond Princess 17 days after all
passengers had left the ship.

It would have felt like Christmas for your Mum mavrick5.
I chopped a few flowering plants down to the ground so parsley and other herbs can spread out.
Veggie seedlings and seeds are pretty much sold out, also chickens.
Here's a great youtube vid showing how to grow new plants from scraps of herbs and veggies bought from the shop with some ready to pick off in weeks.
Hopefully we'll all be out of quarantine before they reach maturity and they'll make tasty end of C19 celebratory BBQ salads instead.
Good project to do with the kids while they're home too.

Good to hear Smiley.
We have three people working from here although I am part-time so I am trying to keep everyone's spirits up, need some ideas other than cakes though
or we will all be putting on weight! Have not left the house for the past 7 days
except to go for a walk around the block. getting home delivery for groceries etc and just making do with what we have, if it ain't here we go
without. But I was also considering the enter via back door, strip off clothes and showers there before coming into the rest of the house, when we do
go out. Seems like extreme measures, but then a week ago, never leaving the house also seemed like an extreme measure. |

Yes, it is amazing and a good lesson, I was probably guilty of not planning enough and wasting food a bit (not that much but some). I am so conscious now, I am shopping online so have to really think ahead carefully
as the delivery window needs to be booked well ahead and once you have ordered you cannot amend the order so if you forget something, bad luck. And we
use up everything, resulting in some creative combinations of tastes at times - I call it "fusion", I reckon there might be a market for it when this
is all over We are so used to convenience, it is a salutary lesson about how much
we took our freedoms and abundance for granted at times. |
