Love to hear from the biggest winners about the sorts of comps that pay best. I doubt I'd change how I comp but it would be interesting to read. It
used to be arty creatives. Is that still the case?
Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

Maybe you could start another thread for hints and tips from big winners.
It only takes a couple of big wins to be a big winner. My big winning years were ones where I won a car (random entry online), overseas holiday
(mostly purchase with random draw, another random draw off the radio), but I've only ever won one or two big wins in any year. I imagine those that
win big prizes regularly are good WOL writers. Although I've a few big WOL prizes, it's just not my forte.
I should add that I don't win a major big prize most years.

Well I finally got to add mine, pretty dismal compared to other years. Most of my wins in 2020 were gift cards, always very welcome.

Have updated the stats. No more big winners but at least people are still clicking on their wins for 2020.
If you haven't clicked yet, don't worry, this poll will stay open for a few more weeks.
I'd like to see over 200 people responding to the poll. We've had 167 so far. |

Just updated the stats again, although we haven't had many responses since the last update. Maybe I need to bump this thread a bit more.
Still no more big winners and our median has dropped again.
I'll keep the poll open until the end of January, so if you haven't clicked yet, please do. |

Unfortunately no.
Earlier someone else asked the same and since I hadn't clicked my own amount, I was able to "swap" with them. They had clicked my amount, so I clicked
for them.

Have updated the stats again. Nice to have a few more responses.
Our median has dropped again, just a little each time I check. I don't think we're going back over $4,000 for 2020. |

Thanks for the comment gr82do, it reminded me that I hadn't done the final update to our summary for the year.
2020 turned out to be our least successful year since we started recording these stats. Even the number of responses was way down on previous years.
The median was only $3,800. Interesting, because I've seen that already some members have won over that amount in just the first 2 months in 2021.
And our Grand Total continues to decrease. It started at just over $6million in 2010 and slowly decreased over the years. Interesting because that
total includes everyone's wins posted throughout the year, not just the responses to this poll. |
