Vaalia - Win a Garmin |

It's very misleading advertising and promotion for their comp.
To make it worse, they usually do not publish winners unless where required, which is why we now see this condition in these types of comps, "In the
event of any ACT winners or SA winners of a prize valued at $250 or more, their names will be announced online on a weekly basis at vaalia.com.au
starting on 09/08/21"
By not publishing ALL winners, we never know how few winners there are from the possible 1,680 prizes. |

Thanks for all comments above. Not even purchasing for a token entry in this one. Imagine the extra sales if only they would run a more honest comp?
We would all be purchasing and entering frequently, rather than boycotting them, and remembering why. Brand loyalty and reputation destroying, not
building. Just don't understand their logic.
At least with Nescafe, we know that even if we don't win on the day, our entry counts for a fair and equal chance in draws at end of comp. |

Ok, this got me mad so I've sent a private message on their facebook page, emailed and also posted this on the 'Rumour File' for 3AW just now.
Hopefully they pick it up and put it on their station.
MESSAGE TO 3AW RUMOUR FILE SENT:
VAALIA Yogurt have heavily promoted a yoghurt 'competition' that CLEARLY makes it LOOK as though they are giving away a Garmin Watch every hour.
When you read the fine print you only win if you enter within an allocated 3 seconds within the hour. (so 3 chosen seconds out of the 3,600 seconds
in an hour). What an absolute SCAM. There is no second chance draw so basically they will most likely be giving away very few if any Garmins. So
many people will be tricked. It's just wrong.
This was the email I sent and the responses:
EMAIL SENT TO VAALIA:
I can see you have a new promotion coming up soon which makes it look like there is a Garmin to be won every hour. I was super excited and ready to
stock up on Vaalia BIG TIME. ... but then I looked further and realised this is very false advertising making it look as though there is a prize
EVERY HOUR where in reality it's unlikely you will be providing many prizes at all (if any).
A 3 second window, seriously? With no second chance draw for that hour if no-one enters in that minuscule timeframe?
I can see this will get a lot of people off-side. I for one boycotting Vaalia for the near future which is a shame for me as I actually love your
yoghurt ... but now don't like your ethics!
THEIR REPLY:
Hi Linda,
Thank you for your email.
We use
winning moments mechanics to ensure that there are more opportunities for everyone to win; this allows us to bring a larger reward to more people for
engaging with our brand.
We would
like to highlight that this promotion is conducted in line with the terms and conditions which can be viewed here -
https://www.vaaliapromo.com.au/terms
Vaalia Promotion
The Promoter collects personal information ("PI") in order to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such PI to third parties,
including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities.
www.vaaliapromo.com.au
The
terms and conditions are prevalently displayed on all marketing communications including at the point of entry, furthermore anyone who enters the
promotion must opt into the terms and conditions when submitting their entry.
We
appreciate your feedback and this will be passed on to the appropriate team.
Kind regards,
Holly

MY REPLY TO HER EMAIL:
Hi Holly,
Thankyou for your reply and I don't envy your position as I know there are already a lot of upset customers out there so I'm sure my complaint is not
your first nor will it be your last throughout this 'promotion'.
I (as have many others I have spoken to), think this is a blatant scam. I don't think you have made it clear that out of 3,600 seconds each hour only
THREE of those seconds MAY be a winner (if they are the first entering in that 3 seconds). I'm confident (as I'm sure you are) that you will be
awarding very few, if any, prizes along the way with no second chance draw.
I do believe there will be more people boycotting Vaalia once the word gets around whereas if you ran a legitimate competition everyone would be out
there buying up big time.
I know a number of people are looking at taking this further with the relevant bodies and media so I will watching with interest to see the outcome
and see if this sort of misleading advertising can continue for future promotions.
Yours sincerely, |

Me also and I've been buying Vaalia for some time now since a comp where lots of prizes were won. I found it sorted my digestive problems so had stuck
it.
Just checked their FB page and no mention of this comp, was going to warn the unknowing public of their real chances of winning.

It's absolute crap isn't it. They're obviously expecting some backlash if they put it up on their facebook page as haven't mentioned the comp there.
I'm going to post as soon as they do but have no doubt they'll instantly delete and block any comments against them. Grrrrrrr. |

When people complain, make sure you also mention the fact that they won't be publishing winners except those of SA & ACT (as required by law)
further trying to conceal this scam competition where hardly anyone will win a prize.
What a croc this line in their response is:
"We use winning moments mechanics to ensure that there are more opportunities for everyone to win; this allows us to bring a larger reward to more
people for engaging with our brand."
If they really want to bring a larger reward to more people, then they would ACTUALLY allow people to win the prizes!!!
EDIT: I'll take the first line back. Out of curiosity, I had a look at their Winners link and 4 people popped up:
J. Carter, VIC
R. King, NSW
A. Roberts, VIC
C. Skeen, NSW
So this comp started on the 2nd, that makes 3 days not including today, and out of a possible 72 prizes, only 4 have been won. I wonder if they listed
these winners because there were no SA or ACT winners to list and they didn't want to look too bad. Although 4 out of 72 is pretty bad. |

Aaaaahhhhh... winning moment!!! Wish I knew HOW to contact SOMEONE to get these "competitions" banned. Does anyone have any idea?
I once contacted the ACCC (I think) about the Smiths comp which did this (early days of winning moments) and they said they can only do promoter by
promoter investigation. And in saying that, they were disgusted that it would be advertised as a win an hour, but only really a win for 3 seconds.
What we need is for it to be ruled out as a way to award prizes in competitions, but I don't know how or who to contact to say this can no longer be a
method of awarding prizes. |

Therefore, there are 3,600 seconds per hour.
For only 3 seconds in those 3,600 you will have a chance to win if you enter and press submit at some stage during those 3 seconds.
Percentage wise, 3 divided by 3,600 x 100 means =
You have 0.08% chance to win if you enter |
So you have a higher chance of getting a blood clot from the Astra Zeneca vaccine, than of winning a prize in this competition! |

Perfectly explained Dodger21. Now if someone could just alert some gaming department to officially exclude such ridiculous and selfish ways of
running competitions. Lots of prizes "to win" but almost zero prizes "won".

Like the Helgas comp now... no winners, and we ALL buy bread!!! |
Well, that's not strictly true about the Helgas comp -- I won, and there are at least two other Lottoers who posted on here that they won $100, so
that's at least three winners so far that we know of! |

No, you're not wrong dathcart. That's just 10 winners over a period of 15 days (not including today). Less than one per day from a possible 24 per
day.
So just 10 wins from a possible 360.
They would be better off to run an honest comp and draw one winner per day, instead of lying to their customers.

Love to know if any Lottos member is on that list as I still think it's a scam and the names are probably not legit.
I no longer enter this type of comp and boycott their products. |
