Smoking ...hmmmmmmm
For me it was quite simple to visualise $100 notes going up in flames each time I had a cigarette.
Good luck Myseera it will change your whole reality ... and that is a great thing
I wish everyone trying to lose weight my best wishes. Baby steps is all it takes.

Myseera, now you've given up smoking you can use that cash to supply your comping habits or other.
Stamps, envelopes, extra fuel in car

Sorry to hear about your accident dreamsrfree burns are always painfull, cant really offer any advice other than what your doctor orders. I hope it
does get better and there is no risk of infection.
Try and take one day at time, take the biggest hurdle first then work on the smaller ones, once you've knocked out the big problem thats causing the
most grief, you can then get through the others.

Myeesera, I quit smoking cold turkey after 13 years and now haven't had one for 8 years. It was soo tempting at first especially if I was having a
cuppa, drink or on the phone but I was sick of waking up feeling like I had licked an ashtray and coughing like I was 100 years old.
You can do it. You can do it. You can do it!!!!!!!!
Just a word of advice though, NEVER eat a bag of sugar free lollies to stop the smoke cravings, they are worse than laxatives!!!
Good Luck with the diet Yippee, I will join you as soon as my pregnancy is over. I am just going to use that as an excuse while it lasts to eat
chocolate every day.
Dreamsrfree I hope your burn heals soon and you are feeling better.
And for me I am going to quit having kids ( I think) |

Wishing everyone lots of luck for those who are on a diet. |
Shock Value - good idea...LOL
I also have some pictures of thinner days and when I look at them I think... D'oh, you wally... put the snack down... move that butt and get into
shape, you know you can.
How you holding up Myeesera? I haven't had any screaming u2u's yet so you must be doing ok...lol. Good work!!
All the best to all those giving up smoking and sorry to hear about your burn dreamrsfree, of course theres enough support to go around...lol. When
things seem to go wrong one after another, after another it's bound to get you down... I'd start with the small things so at least you feel like
things are happening and improving, then you'll feel more capable of dealing with the bigger stuff.
All the best guys (( group hug))
Edit: LOL.. Muskrat.... I think you know the methods needed for your goal!! |

was more half hearted when I have tried to give up, this time I am going to give it a hell of a shot ... plus I have told all you guys now, so I would
be letting you all down as well if I failed.
anyway so far so good.. no screaming u2us either yippee, LOL |

Myeesara, there is nothing worse than giving up smoking and I know because I give up once a year, the first 24hrs is the worst after that say to
yourself it been one day I can make it through another day, reward yourself once a week with a new nail polish, lippy, clothes item and don't slip up
6months down the track like I always do, if in pain zyban and patches help. |

Good Luck myeesera. I hope to join you soon and hopefully you will be able to give me some useful tips. I just know at this moment I would be doomed
to fail.
My biggest struggle today was it being Mother's Day and facing the first one without my mum, especially as it has only been a matter of weeks since
she passed. Hardest was trying to be "up" for my kids when I was filled with such sadness. My kids were beautiful however, and made me understand even
more how important and special a mother is.
Also a very special U2U from CJmum made me, again, appreciate this beautiful Lottos family.
It was a very mixed day of emotions. But, thank you WP for giving us all a place we can express our difficulties and get some kind words in return.
You're a gem. |

Good Luck myeesera
Hubby and i gave up nearly a year ago, after nearly 20yrs of smoking, i know it is easier to do it with someone close, but i still had to get through
the days alone at home while he was at work. We decided to make our house/car completely smoke free, & it made it easier for me every time i
looked at our little miss 3, thinking about every breath she had to take & that it wasnt our right to decide on her life!
Our friends were pretty supportive too, trying not to smoke around us till a few weeks later. I think the worst thing in the giving up process was
having nothing in my hands, so i did alot of baking, so looks like now we have
to probably start dieting and going to gym.
Also like to say hope all goes well dreamsfree, hang in there! |

well day 1 is pretty close to being over, it turned out to be pretty challenging, with tobes getting ill this afternoon, I had to change his sheets 6
times, so the washing machine was non stop, I guess this kept me busy as my fist cravings started to hit.
By 9.00 pm, he had finally gone to sleep, so sat at the computer, and that was the worst, I really wanted a smoke, because I was exhausted, so went
and had a shower and went to bed myself, my body clock has just woke me up, @ 1.00 am (which is the time I normally hit the hay,) so it looks like
this is going to get hard. At the moment there is definetly a craving for one, so I think the best thing will be to take myself back to bed to try
and sleep through it..
Thanks for all your support guys,
Rodo, kids are a wonderful tool to help us through greif, they make us realise the things we have, and the things we aer going to miss,
Treasure the memories of your mum, and watch her living on through your kids,
Naturally some days will be tough, but I am sure that some of the lessons in life that a mother teaches a daughter, will keep you in good stead to
keep going.
cheers

remember you are now a "non-smoker"
dreamsfree - burns are the worst a few days ago I said to a friend itching was the
worst but I'd forgotton burns) - although both are miseries - just take care of yourself for infections and follow your doctors advice. I hope your
ok - I've burn scars on me from following the old wives tale of putting butter on it.

Hi All,
I am sooooo seriously proud of myself, I have not touched one ciggarette, and considering the week Ive had, I figure If i can get through it without
cracking, then I can get through anything.
Really my week has been crappy, as most of you know, but I have not given in, and today I even think I thought less about it, than I have been doing,
you know like when you have a cup of coffee or what ever..
thanks for your continuing support, I hope everyone else whom has posted in this thread, are going ok too, keep your chin up everyone,
cheers

Hi and thanks mummadoris,
I have been thinking a lot about why I am not really finding it as hard as it has been previously, and I think its probably psychological more than
anything, I decided to give up for myself, not because friends or family harped at me, or because of yukky pictures on tvs or smoke packs, (not that
that happened cos I smoked horizons and the pics are not on their packs yet) but just because I decided it was something that I didnt want to spend my
money on any more.
Mind you I have been coughing heaps since I have given up, someone said this is my bodies way of getting rid of some of the crap in my lungs, I dont
know if that is true or not, but I really do have a bad case of NON smokers cough,
I filled out a survey yesterday and had the greatest pleasure in putting down NON smoker lol
I have really found it much easier this time, than I have previously, maybe it was just time....
I have got a bit of an addiction to Sara Lees, double chocolate mousse cake though, but two of those a week still only cost the same as one pack of
smokes...lmao,
woooaaaaahhhh hooooooaaaahhhhh my hips are getting bigger, (to the tune of the nips are getting bigger....)
Yippee, got to love those comping chocolate bars, wishing you luck in your diet endeavours,
Jackie |
