A little experiment to try regarding coronavirus
To help us prevent the spread of coronavirus, they tell us, among other things, to wash our hands regularly and avoid touching your face.
Here's a little experiment for everyone. Set the stopwatch on your watch or phone, and go about your day. As soon as you touch your face, or even go
to touch your face then realise what you're about to do, stop the stopwatch and tell us here how long you lasted.
I got off to a bad start. I lasted all of 1 minute then got an itch and scratched the side of my nose!
Also, I have long curly hair and find myself brushing my hair off my face regularly. I'm doomed! |

I have been washing my hands heaps more often and being careful about what I touch. But I couldn't spend five minutes without scratching somewhere, I
am certain of that. |

I read an interesting article about touching your face. It concluded that as most people find it nearly impossible to remember, the better solution is
to focus on frequent hand washing, as clean hands are less likely to be a problem when touching your face. |

Hand Cuffs ... seriously I never realized how many times Mr Blossom touches his face, until we had to sit in the doctors surgery yesterday (well
actually we opted for the seats far, far, away from the crowd & told the receptionist to text, when it was our turn) but even still, I gave up
counting, so I drowned him in hand sanitizer & gave him some tissues to use, then he rubbed his hands with them & re-used them for the next
itch ... from now on it's one of those doggie things, vets put around pets necks, to stop scratching ... or a plastic bag over his head !!! ... even
with all the Aqium comps, I only have limited hand sanitizer in my comp stash, to last the distance !!!
On a different subject, the reason we were at the doctors, was for me to get vaccinations up to date, I have pretty severe allergic reactions, so they
have been put on hold ... but we decided the risk of secondary infections now, was higher than the risk of allergic reaction ... I feel like I've been
run over by a bus today, but one down & a flu shot to go when they become available, better to be safe than sorry

We went through this on our recent trip, I thought I would NEVER be able to comply but we each watched the other with eagle eyes and I only strayed
ONCE in the first 4 days!!! Amazing even if I do say so myself. Mind you I actually stuck my finger straight in my eye after pressing a lift button

Also doomed...lots of face touching.
Here is a good one - I donated a huge amount of sanitizers and other personal hygiene items to the homeless shelter not long ago.
My keep stash is looking awfully small at the moment and I am starting to get worried about supplies for my special needs family member, but I also
feel kind of good that this vulnerable local group has basic health supplies available to them.

I've worked in Customer Service for years - so I've had lots of practice not touching my face (otherwise you get every cold/flu/gastro bug going
around). The rule I've always used is not to touch your eyes, your nose or your mouth. At work, if I had a itchy nose, I used to use the inside of my
shirt to scratch my nose (lifting the collar/neckline of my shirt), until someone gave me the strangest of looks. I then realised that they must have
thought I was blowing my nose on my shirt
The other thing to remember, if you use a tissue to scratch/blow your nose, throw it away as you've touched it with dirty hands(if you are out in
public). Which is really hard to do now that they are in short supply.

I hadn't heard the advice about not touching our faces before this post. It seems like a good time to try to break my nail-biting habit. |
