Win an in-season double pass to Scandinavian Film Festival and witness some of the best cinema from the Nordic region
A much-anticipated fixture on the festival calendar, the Scandinavian Film Festival will return in July with a specially curated program of films and
events, showcasing the best in new Nordic cinema and exploring the culture, history and life in the region. The 2022 lineup features a superb
selection of films from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and will be screening at Palace Barracks and Palace James Street from July 20
through to August 10. While feasting on the best new Scandinavian cinema, keen festival-goers can enjoy a glass of Carlsberg beer – a very fitting
brand partnership for this year’s event.
Opening the festival is the Australian premiere of Margrete – Queen of the North (Margrete den første), a lavish historical drama set in 1402 from
acclaimed director Charlotte Sieling. Selected for the 2022 Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week, this year’s special presentation is Finland’s The
Woodcutter Story (Metsurin tarina), and is the directorial debut of Mikko Myllylahti. For food lovers, there are a handful of titles to enjoy.
Denmark’s A Taste of Hunger (Smagen af sult). Starring Katrine Greis-Rosenthal and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), the story follows a couple
who sacrifice everything to get a coveted Michelin star for their popular restaurant in Copenhagen. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
