How do you answer these questions ... ? ( comp question )
How do you answer the questions that ask:
"In 25 words or less why you do you want to win (this prize)?"
Do you answer from the heart? Make up something funny?
I hate these questions cos they don't leave you much room to be creative. I try to be sarcastic. But it doesn't seem to work. How do you answer them? |

A mixture of all of the above. Sometimes i make up what i consider to be brilliant answers that don't win and crappy answers that do. Little rhymes
seem to work better for me but i have heard of people winning with answers like "Because i really, really, really, really, really want it".
Just keep entering and entering & best of luck.  |

I know, its such a generic question, its like the promoter cant be bothered coming up with an interesting question and it makes me wonder what kind of
answer wins! |

I have tried "cute" little rhymes but they don't seem to be successful so now I just say from the heart why I want to win. Still no better results as
yet! LOL! |

I think all of the above could win, just depends what takes their fancy if indeed they bother judging all of them anyway PLUS you need to look at the
target promoter - r they a racier sort of mag, then they might not mind a racier answer whereas a more conservative mag or site might be looking for
something funny or heartfelt.
Going on things I've seen that have won and from those who have given guidance in the past who are better qualified than moi...guidelines generally
have been
1. dont whinge or swear or be offensive
2. mention the product
3. be positive
4. humorous if you're good at it
5. spell correctly
6. don't go over the word limit (oh, unless it's an OROTON comp
:mad
7. try & be a little different
There - that's easy isn't it?

I usually write whatever pops into my head. It may be verse, something serious or funny depends how I feel on the day
Although, I did win a years supply of chocolate from Kerrie Ann show with the sentence.. " because I really WANT chocolate
Go figure

Going by your answers kismet , I'm a shoein for just such a comp I entered tonight ,won't hold my breath though .

I think the less you think about it the better...just the first thing that comes to mind, if possible using the promoters/products name.
I still genuinely believe they don't actually read all the answers anyway...(my opinion, I know) BUT I just cannot see promoters reading hundreds,
thousands or even hundreds of thousands of entries and choosing a winner. I think it more likely that they draw a winner and assuming it sounds
reasonable...CONGRATULATIONS...you are the winner!
Like others, I've won on pretty ordinary 25wol entries and not won on well thought out and pretty darn good (in my humble opinion) ones!
I think the most important thing is....just keep on entering! |

I always think I'm a whole LEG-IN gypsy, but very rarely do I pull it off unfortunately, although Babies Galore like me, I've won 2 strollers with
them with 25WOL...oh, if only that brilliance would translate into something just a little larger!
That being said I agree that promoters are not going to read 1000's of entries, which is totally unfair by the way, instead I think they grab a
largish sample and choose from those.
I DO keep on entering, I just want to win something decent!!!

I remember one of those 25 wol questions, it asked, if you could go dancing anywhere, where would it be.
My responce was. I would go dancing at home, that way I can have a dance with my sons and, they would be in bed on time.
And I won, I cant remember what the prize was, but I won. |

I asked a friend who is the marketing manager for a large corporation that regularly has comps (I don't enter them - that would be unethical!) if they
actually read all the entries. He told me that they pay people to do that (outsource it to another company/group) and they then present my friend
with the top 100. What a job! I asked him the best entry he ever received and he said that someone entered a beach holiday comp by sending in an
entry on a surf board! Don't think I'll manage to go to that much effort!

Thanks ndiyo, that's good to know. I know my kids won cash through a kids comp once and the lady on the phone said they had 12,000 entries and they
quite often get their work experience students to help judge. Worth putting in the effort if you know your entry will be looked at. |

Hi Tabs, have you tried doing something outside the square, not quite as elaborate as sending your answer on a surfboard but sending your answer in
some other way than just on a piece of paper. we never do our 25wol on the coupon. My 2 children have won big time on the 25wol. I am still to have
any luck online but have been successful when doing as above and sending via post. Good luck! |

Slightly off the topic, but do people have more success with mail in competitions than online? I'm lazy and just do the online ones but I'm starting
to think that maybe there are a lot of people like me and statistically I'd be better off getting out the old school pen and paper. Any thoughts?
