National Young Bloods Radio Competition
What is the National Young Bloods Radio Competition?
2009 has been declared the ‘Year of the Blood Donor’ by the Federal Government. This special year aims to raise awareness of the ongoing need for
blood. You can enter the Young Bloods National Radio Competition to educate and inspire younger people to become regular blood donors.
How does my school enter?
Get together a group of up to five students aged 15 to 18 attending your school, college or TAFE. Read the Terms and Conditions and follow the entry
checklist and creative brief (see attachments below). Each entry chosen must satisfy the following criteria:
Submit your entry by 5pm Friday 29 May 2009
Send recorded ad on disc in .WAV or .MP3 format, and completed entry form
Meet the creative brief
Ad must run for 25-30 seconds
Please contact your Australian Red Cross Blood Service Youth Coordinator with any competition questions or submissions.
Information to help you with your competition entry
Attached is a template advert which can be used in your school newsletter to promote the competition.
Last year’s winning entry will give you an idea of the type of submission received.
Take a look at this website which has facts about blood donation and how blood is used.
What do we win?
The winning students from each State and Territory will get to record their advert in a professional studio which will be aired on a local radio
station.
State and Territory winners will then be entered into the National Competition where the winning school prize is 16 Podcast Stations, which enables
whole classes to create their own podcasts. The winning advert will be broadcast for a few weeks on a major national radio station.

I have just got some feedback that there are very few entries and none at all from Queensland. Winning states get their advert recorded - a great
experience for those wanting to get into this area as a career. |
