Komala, you apparently do have to have all the promotional barcodes if you have done an ONLINE entry, it is written in the T/C's and this Sam has said it too, so keep the barcodes of everything you buy for this comp

no worries. I know l crack the [Censored]s when someone rings me and says 'before we can go any further l need to confirm your d.o.b, address, full name etc...I tell them lm not confirming anything to you, how do l know you are who you say you are?...and they start getting annoyed with me LOL...l usually just hang up on them, telling them to send me a letter.:D

Not ridiculous at all - just protecting the promoter

They often dont tell you what the prize is and in some cases they will ring and say you are a provisional winner subject to verifying receipts and barcodes because if they ring and say you are winner and have won such and such it opens them up to legal disputes if you cant justify your purchases but they have told you are already a winner or you have won such and such.

Hope that makes sense :)

If the promoter tells you that you are a provisional winner subject to POP, and you end up disputing the win when you haven't provided POP, you MUST provide proof to whoever you have lodged a complaint with to prove that yes you DO have actual proof of purchase that clearly shows that you won it and had followed the promoters T & Cs that was required, to receive it. The only way it would 'leave them open to that type of situation, is if they haven't included those requirements in their T & CS..and in that case they would have no-one to blame but themselves and would NOT be able to ask the provisional winners for POP)and it sounds to me the comp that Dragon was talking about specifically stated that they required POP..;)
I think it is stupid that they cannot state the prize you have 'provisionally' won...The promoters 'bases' are covered..NO-ONE will just take your 'word' for it, especially the ACCC or Gaming, liqour and Racing or whoever you made a complaint to, without proving that you DO have relevant documents/receipts that backs up your claim...so l think that is just plain ridiculous that he couldn't state what the prize was. :)

now...have l 'done your head in' like l have just done mine :P:P

I went to woolies today , bought 3 products that had the sign under them, find out when I get home those proucts weren't even in competition. Stupid staff must have just place the promo things willy nilly. Most annoyed. Rang the shop and they said sorry blah blah blah!!! Just waste $8.00

Seadust is right , basically that was all hubby wanted to know WHAT THE PRIZE WAS - it may well have been one of the $50 gift vouchers, hubby didn't know if this Sam was legit or not, we have had calls saying hey you've won a prize blah blah.-

some years ago we had a winning call from someone who said they were from a certain wildlife charity and my daughter then 9 had won a weekend at a hotel, lady said she would send the prize voucher and letter, never arrived, so phoned the charity, apparently the lady was a scammer who had done it to a number of people and scammed the prize providers who had legitmately given her prizes, she scammed everyone, daughter was so upset and her dad and I have never forgotten that incident, so that may be another reason for his attitude.

I am NOT keeping barcodes of every Dairy Farmers yoghurt I eat!!! I just can not be bothered. We'll see! Can u see me rushing off to buy all the yoghurts all at once if they ask me for barcodes?...I've kept records of everything I entered with plus POP. :P:P:o;);)

I really dont think someone who was scamming would ask you to fax/email a receipt, they would be more likely to ask for personal details which this guy obviously didnt, you knew you entered so I wouldnt have a problem providing a copy of the receipt as they already have your details from your entry. Seems stupid to enter competitions if you are not willing to send/fax a receipt, there are 6 cars being given away, so hope it wasnt a call for that...lol. You dont get many nice surprises in life and I would have looked at it like this and sent receipt asap so I could find out.....

Promotors are gettng tougher !! and good on EM!! makes it fairer for the rest of us!
they deffinately are not giveing any information out freely anymore espeically receipt numbers, day of winning entry etc... products purcahsed if you had a huge vareity ..
this is mainly to verify a ligitmate winning entry...
WPC are becoming 101 questions LOL i get so excited then i hang up and im like "huh what was that scratching my head:
I hope you can ring the promotor and still send in the receipt to claim..

Quite frankly, I did not mind not knowing which of the prizes I had won, it was kinda fun "speculating" till I got confirmation.
They all all terrific prizes in my book!
I was just very happy to have won!.....any of them!

The wishcards are instant online entries only.

It is no different with the San Remo woolies comp. Screen says instant winner, email tells you where to send original receipts in, for verification, but at the end of the day, wont know if it is netball kits or T shirts until they verify receipts, and send back receipts with prizes. Do I care? No, just thrilled for a win.
AND it will be a nice surprise when they arrive, whatever I get.

The cars are not drawn till the end as far as I recollect by the way???

It's like this 'T & C's are copyrighted' business...pffft..all consumers are entitled to have a copy of the Terms and Conditions when they sign up to promoters competitions or promotions, and for anyone to tell me l've breached their copyright laws when we can only access a copy of their t & cs via their website, well...l'll say no more  whether that is by printing them out for myself or into a group..l can't see how that is breaching anyones rights? And l'm hardly going to send off a letter for them to post me a copy before l enter their comps  :D

anyway Dragon, l hope hubby is in a better mood today :P:P

EDIT: and Lucky Bennetts, l couldn't agree with you more..l am continually on promoters backs..especially at the moment with POR :)

And some people are happy to 'wait and see' what they've won, others prefer to like to know ;)

Thanks for the info dragon. I'll have to start keeping them all. GGRrrr I should have (as I usually do) kept all the reciepts. I dont know how I'll go getting the kids to bring ther squeezie packs home from school. Bummer.

Good Luck with sorting out your prize.

Enough is enough you are all entitled to your opinions - good luck to you all in the next draws and second chance draws, I am not going to pursue this as it is hubby's entry.
You all seem to miss one point though - he is entitled to have bad days - my parents both died in the last 5 months and he is handling the majority of the legal and estate stuff very very well. He has to ask explicit questions as he is dealing with solicitors and govt depts, so it just rolls over into other situations, so I miss a prize, I have him doing all that for me, that is a bigger prize and he is a winner to me!

All the best to you and your hubby Dragon.

Yes, it is a hard time for you, totally understand.

However,

I felt that the issue you were making in your original post was regarding wanting to know what the prize was, otherwise no receipts, which was what happened. (followed by calling at the wrong time), and clearly I was not the only one that thought that.

The bonus in this situation is that some lucky person will score in the second chance draw, and will happily hand over their receipts, and wait in anticipation (like I did) to find out what wonderful prize they have won

I am very sorry for your loss dragon1366, but honestly.... you start this thread WITHOUT this background and then take offense when people give their opinions on your husband's actions! You set the tone by saying he's not known for his patience and that you didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The rest of us just followed :)

Wishing you the best in the future :)

Noticed in todays p/ns, that the quota of prizes for week one is complete.
Did you manage to satisfy the promoters request, and get your prize, Dragon?

Hope so:)

If not, it must have been a second chance draw in week one, as 2 holidays, five plasmas and 5 freezers have been acknowledged in p/ns
