Second mobile for comps...
My mobile died yesterday and I need to get another, either on plan or pre-paid or one of each. Just wondering where the best premium deals are and
whether other members have a seperate comp phone. Is this worthwhile? My bills have doubled since I have started entering SMS comps, but Telstra
don't have any deals for premium SMS. I need to have a Next G phone as live in country Vic. Thanks for any advice. |

I have a Next G with Telstra and got a prepaid as well for comps.Just too expensive plus I got overwhelmed with charged advertising so I gave it up
and decided to stick with the next G,no choice really if you live in the country. |

i use virgin mobile prepaid and they have great deals. for example:
$35 cap = $180 calls/sms + 20mb of down loads
$45 cap = $320 calls/sms + 50mb of down loads
all credit can be used on premium sms too...plus if you top up before expiry your credit rolls over...and you also get free virgin to virgin on a lot
of the prepaid...
the only thing is you cant CALL 1900 numbers...
works really well for me both personally and for entering comps..
Check out:
https://www.virginmobile.com.au/rates/prepaid_compare.html
and also

hope that helps!

Virgin only allows the Credit to be used for Premium SMS not the Bonus Credit.
If you're plan is $35 then you can use $35 for premium SMS before being charged for additional premium SMS

hi guys...
after the u2u queries i have just spoken to virgin and was told that the premium sms is dependant on the client (???)
apparently since i have been with virgin both prepaid and post paid since they introduced themselves to the market, my original contract remains in
place which means any of my credit is usuable on premium..
this is apparently not the case with newer sims which are used under different terms and conditions and the credit is applied as per the voucher
bought... (this varies)
sorry for the confusion, but even i have learnt something today!! guess that explains why my credit seems to never expire and lasts so long!! my
original contract was any credit purchased lasted 365 days and could not CALL premium, guess they didnt count on sms way back then!!!
gosh, i hope they dont change it now that it has been brought to their attention!!
i am still very happy with the virgin service regardless of this and have rarely had an issue with them...
i hope that helps!!
cheers...
j...
ps.. the prepaid caps are not a plan... you can top up at normal places or online with a credit card...the easiest place i find is big w self serve
checkouts, all your options are on the screen in front of you...easy!! |

ok...i've had my sim for ever and a day...so I am going to give it a go and will report back.
Edit - I topped up with a $45 cap and it shows up as $320 credit online and I just rang the account balance no. and it says $320.....no mention of $45
being my credit and the rest as something else like Optus does. When I have gone through $45 I'll report back if it still lets me use the $$ for
premium sms.
Thanks for the info Jokaboobie |
