well my diary is getting chockas but it certainly was a godsend when having to find my Kinder and Jiffy receipts. I will be sticking with this method and buying two diaries next year, one for each half of the year.

I stick mine with sticky tape, Not quite as thick as staples but still easy to get off.

Just another use I have for the diary. I write on each page when I get notification/receive a prize, and the value. At the beginning of each month I have a page where I transfer all this info to (some months not much to transfer) and whether the win is from a SMS/store/web comp etc. Then it is an easy job to transfer totals to a yearly page and you have your running total for wins for that year.

Right after shopping, enter comps, print out copy of entry, attach copy of receipt and barcodes to entry, write name of comp and store and date into 24 page exercise book. Write comp. book number on front cover plus date started to finished. When full, start next exercise book.

For all SMS and Phone entries, mail entries and coupon/barrel entries, dates are written into book with relevant codes, codewords etc. :):):)

Bugger. One store last week was GIVING away 2009 diaries. I thought I have no use so didnt grab any. I am definitely going to use the diary from now on. it is a great idea. I have been using SHOE box also. need to get myself more organised...Thanks for the idea. Do you staple the receipts on the day you bought the product or the day the comp ends? :P

picked up a cheap day to a page diary at Lincraft. $7.50 marked down from $25.

I think I'm going to go one step further...staple the receipts but then also enter into a spreadsheet the competition and date purchased, so I can easily search. Some comps I've entered more than once and on different days, and I think it will be easier for me to keep track of which ones I've entered and on what day. Like the reindeer carrot comp...pretty sure I've entered twice, but it would be easier to go to the diary to find the token if I knew which days.

more work though I guess.

I am now using personal notes as well as a cross reference:)

"top left hand corner" and I also think a spread sheet would be handy but I am a bit slack with that:)

My Diary is my bible lol

Can't believe I've missed this thread - Fantastic idea - Thanks:)

I use an A-Z expanding file that I have just renamed Jan-Dec. I put my receipts in the corresponding month with any wrappers/barcodes/entry forms. When I need to find a receipt I look up the comp to see the dates of entry and go to the months - usually only have to look through two months and I have never had a problem finding them.

As for keeping track of prizes I won - I keep a running spreadsheet very simple 5 columns Prize - where from - value - value waiting on - date notified. At a glance I can see what I am still waiting on and from whom and once received I move the value from the column value waiting on to value of prize. I keep a totals at the end so I know what value I have received, what value I am waiting on and what my yearly so far total is.

I've finally worked out a system that works for me.

I have an exercise book, where l note the date, product purchased (and quantity), no. of entries the purchase gives me, the store and the date l actually entered the comp and in whose name (eg mine, hubby or kids).

With my receipts, l note the date on the top right corner and on the left the name of the comps applicable (eg, Masterchef, Gillette, Gatorade). The receipts are bundled together in date order.

Npw when l win a comp, all l have to do is go to my record book, look up the product and l'll know the dates of the receipt/s l need ....and more importantly, l can determine which receipts belong to which family member.

As for barcodes/wrappers etc....meh, l just chuck 'em in a shoebox :D:D

I have used one of those folders, But I think I will try out the diary idea, sound fantastic as you usually have some idea of when you entered.

At the moment I photocopy each rec, but I tak it with the diary you don't have too????

Thanks everyone, for all your hints.. Must get a diary. One of my tips is that when a have comps that need to be posted, I write the date to post on the top right hand corner of the envelope. Then just before posting, I cover it with the stamp. I always post my envelopes in the days leading up to the comp as I feel this gives me a better chance of winning.:yes::kiss::kiss:

Clever :) It doesn't matter if the day is right fo the year, just if you can find the date :)

Love the diary idea! I'd been keeping receipts in an ice-cream container and was amazed that when I got the call for the Mediterranean trip that the first receipt I picked up was the one I needed  Can't imagine that happening again

ow, is the thread on here for how to organise my plastics cupboard in the kitchen?:lol::lol::lol:

Thank you all for your hints - do you realise that tomorrow I was finally going to organise my desk.

I have receipts everywhere - now I will go out and buy a diary or 2 - fantastic - so happy.

a ring binder diary is perfect, when it gets bulky you can just remove a few months and store them elsewhere (large envelope) and you only have to buy a refill insert the following year..;)
