Don't open anything from AGL. It will take over your computer and you will have to pay a fortune to retrieve your information. |

Never, ever pay! It's easy to fix. Do a bit of research on another computer and download relevant fix program onto a USB and start the infected PC
up from the key/safe mode (turn on and press F8 repeatedly). There's a rescue program called bitdefender and another one that's good, I think it
might be called hotfix but can't remember.....
Edited: Very time consuming to fix tho.... |

Scammers seem to stepping their dishonesty a notch by producing realistic looking emails. I'm the 'Queen of Careful' when it comes to dodgy emails
& was concerned to see a stream of rather realistic looking scam comping emails in my work related junk mail folder last night. They looked like
they came from major companies, but of course they were fake. They all related to fake competitions and fake 'prizes'. The difference between these
scam emails and the usual run of the mill scam emails is that all of the email titles looked pretty convincing and included well known products and
companies that we often come across while comping. I immediately deleted the emails without reading them. If the emails had arrived in my comping
account I would've been hard pressed to know which email was fake and which was real by looking solely at the titles, but of course it would be easy
to work it out as soon as the message was opened. I saw the body of one email in my preview screen and it had the standard 'click on this link' scam.
I'm guessing the other scam emails were similar, but thought I'd mention it to lottos folk because the titles were quite convincing.
|
Yes I agree - I've noticed that if you look down at the bottom of the email a lot of them say that they come from Portugal
"You are receiving this email because you subscribed the site Australian Press Titles.
(Future Prime, Avenida Ilha da Madeira, 35F - 3º B, 1400-203 Lisboa, Portugal | + 351 211 142 495).
If you do not wish to receive further emails click here. Thank you. "
I use this as one test to avoid and I don't 'click here' either |

Never quite sure about the unsolicited ClubMed emails. They appear regularly and look reasonably real but something doesn't feel right with them.... |

Fortunately I didn't have the problem with the AGL email, but a friend of mine who works with computers said he was recently in an office where an
employee opened up this particular email and lost all the company's databank (apparently). He rang to warn me not to open any such email. |

I agree with all the above. Lately I've had so many emails completely scam. Sometimes they even use the actual company name eg: Woolworths or
Telstra. In the past, they mis-spelt the company name, but these days, they are just so realistic. Mine come in in the morning mostly. When I turn
on my computer in the morning I receive about 15. I guess its part of a comper's life as we put our email address out there with hope.

just received a phishing email supposedly from Telstra, stating that my last a/c payment had been credited twice, due to a computer error. But no a/c
details have been given in the email, nor the amount of the overpayment. ''click on the link and a refund will be made to your credit card" Nice try,
whoever you are, but I don't use a credit card to pay my Telstra a/c.

As soon as the word 'selected' is mentioned, you know it's probably fake. |

I don't think this one has been posted before but there's some very legitimate-looking emails doing the rounds regarding FlyBuys, Woolworths, Coles
(and probably others) that are a scam.
It comes from an email address: info@ds.zoldr.com (or a few variations of this)
I've had 2 today already. One was from 'Flybuys Program' and the other from 'Woolies Account' |

Aaaahhhh... the junk emails which I dare not unsubscribe from are coming thick and fast, probably got 30 this morning! Is anyone else getting a truck
load of rubbish everyday? I've been comping for 5yrs and this year my emails are insane!! They aren't from The Good Guys or anything normal, they
are all about diabetes, teeth, fat, dating, flashlights etc... sometimes just a pile of letters and numbers in the body of the email. Sometimes it
says it's from me! Which it is NOT. |

I use a product called Mailwasher (by Firetrust) which you can get a lifetime subscription for about $100. I can vet all my mail and delete or block
email address AND domain address if required. I think its worth it but always each to their own. Its like a pre mail vetting tool which you can just
check over and if happy delete what you don't need and then open your email. Saves a bit of time and the ones that are already on the block list are
already ready for the delete button in one group delete! |

I hear and understand you. I have the option to block domain names and email addresses, but these come and are different everytime. Now they seem to
use normal words followed by .com
for example: toothpastecastlehouse.com
or: flashlightvehiclefast.com
stuff like that. I can't block these as they are often one offs and the next week they are using different weird addresses.
I was just hoping my name would fall of the listings... but it seems to be getting worse. And I don't want to change my email address as I've had it
for ever and I like it.
They come up "dangerous" and I know just hit delete delete delete etc. but it's soooooo annoying!! |

I have been considering changing my email for a while now as they are driving me nuts. Luckily I can have several different domain names with my
account so I may just change to one of them until I have got all my important mail transferred over. The rest can just then be deleted
As I said though, each to their own. It is a good software program though in case.
Just thought I'd add it to this thread in case anyone needed some help for a minimal type cost. |

I'm over "surveys" from big company names like Coles, Woolworths, Good Guys, Myer etc that always have the common thread that the reward/prize amount
is $500, and their friends Nespresso and Dyson offering a free product to review. There's an unsubscribe link that is soooo tempting....
I would have thought the big companies would get sick of it and at least attempt to shut them down!
