ALDI INTERVIEW
Yay! My daughter 20 yo has an interview with Aldi next week.
Just thought someone in Lottos land may have experience with this company and can give us the heads up with what she might expect.
It is for a Retail Assistant type position and she has been told to allow 2 hours. Seems along time for an interview so perhaps they do group
interviews and/or some sort of testing.
Thanks in advance. |

Group interviews , but i can't give you any advise cause I failed. I found the whole group thing very awkward though so didn't help me in selling
myself
Hope your daughter gets the job wish I could be more helpful |

Yes 1st interview is a group interview, 2nd interview is a one-on-one then you must pass an indepth physical and police check. This was for just a
retail assistant as well.
It's a physically demanding job. All staff unpack the trucks, use pallet jacks/machinery, stack shelves, checkouts, clean the floors etc. Everyone
pitches in. It's definately not a 'cruisey' job, you must pay attention to everything as everywhere is 'your department' and for example, on
checkouts, the register doesn't tell you how much change to give...you must work it out in your head and get it right!! There's no staff chit-chat,
you go and do your job and do it well or they wont keep you on past the 3 month probation.
A great company to work for though, great hourly rate, they pay for your steel-cap boots, uniforms etc.
Hope this helps...good luck to your daughter! |

Thats great info luckymeitsmyturntowin!
My daughter will find that very valuable.
Sorry, few more ?'s.
Did they just short list from the group interview and hold the 2 interviews shortly after on the same day? Do Aldi have many full time retail
assistants in their stores or are they part-time & casual? When they called her they didn't specify (or maybe she just can't remember) what type
of employment the interview was for. Not that it is overly important. |

Sorry for the late reply, had a flat out weekend!
They held 4 group interviews over 2 days. If you weren't successful getting through you were told to expect a letter in the mail or if you made it
through to the next round, a phone call. Second interview was with the area manager a week or so later.
In our case they had 80 people at the group interviews over the 2 days, of those 80 only 3 were hired.
They are part-time or casual contracts.

Are you serious?? Have to admit Im a bit of a clown and like to make others laugh but for goodness sake, having to do it at a job interview is
ridiculous, its almost like whoever is prepared to humiliate themselves the most wins? Just for a job? Too bad if you are a brilliant worker but very
reserved! |

Thanks so much for asking luckymeitsmyturntowin, it's kind of you to remember!
No, tomorrow morning. Hair coloured and straightened, clothes pressed, shoes polished, passport photocopied and just doing some research now. Of
course, all I can do is worry and wish!
I'll let you know tomorrow. |

Thanks so much for the well wishes and advice! Unfortunately she didn't get the job.
It sounds like it was pretty much how you said luckymeitsmyturntowin. She only had 5 in her group interview and this was followed with short
interview with the area manager. They had another 20 to interview in the afternoon. They didn't specify how many people they intended to hire (looks
like they were hiring for 3 stores) but said they could hire all or none. My daughter thought she'd done ok in her group and interview.
But , unfortunately no phone call. |
