GIFT IDEAS?
I was wondering if I can start a gift ideas thread?
It would be great if people can post what they've got (or are planning to get) and for who.
I have my Mum, brother and boyfriend sorted, but need help with my Dad. Here's what I've got them:
Mum - a lucky bamboo plant in a handbag shaped pot from the markets
Brother - I'm going to paint him a pop-art painting of his sausage dog
Boyfriend - a t-shirt that John C Reilly wears in the movie "Step Brothers" that he's been looking for ever since he saw it
BUT I still need something for Dad. He's very blokey - smokes, drinks rum, listens to country music, drives trucks, loves cars, guns, fishing etc.
Usually I get him a Bundy Rum hat, towel etc but I've exhausted my options. And if he needs something he'll usually buy it himself. If all else fails
I'll get him a BCF voucher, but I'd prefer to buy him an actual present. Any ideas? |

Not sure if he has a shed or likes his grage ect but there is a book men and their sheds and it i full of all different men over Australia and their
sheds and short stories, think it is in black and white pictures, nice blokey book , or maybe a T-Sirt for him there are some great ones around. You
can get a 6 or 12 pack of beers from around the world as well at most bottle shops. Goodluck. |

instead of getting him a gift, why not give him a hand drawn 'voucher' for a day of fishing (or something) with you. sometimes we get caught up trying
to find the perfect 'thing' and dont get a chance to spend quality time with people. as you say, these days, if people want 'things' they buy them, so
why not do up something like that instead???
or
I once saw a really nice handcarved timber fishing handreel.
I think it was about $60, but it was really nicely polished timber. very simple. but very beautiful. |
