Anyone have Band Hero? need batteries?

Hi, I bought Band Hero & wrapped it all up, then wondered if it needs batteries for all the bits, dont wanna dissapoint the son on chrissy morning.

if its for the wii you will need extra remotes

its for the PS3, thought the individual pieces might need batteries, how do they connect up then?
