Prize Paranoia

Prize Paranoia

Ok so this is half a joke thread.... but some crazy thoughts I've had since being a comp addict.

'Hi my name is teamhippo and I confess to the following'.....

- Seeing my neighbour get DAILY deliveries from Aust. Post van and telling hubby that I think she's stealing my prizes as the guy driving the van mustn't have seen the street numbers right.

- Trimming bush around letterbox so said Aust.Post driver can see house number

- Almost regretting inviting friends and fam to be lottoers (espec when they win prizes and I don't) - not really... but you know...!

- Buying just 'one more' purch req comp product because it could be that *ONE* that wins

- Not telling anyone bout your wins because once you brag it goes quiet!

These are all I can think of for now (i've had many more) but would LOVE to hear other quirky thoughts :)

Or...... it could just be me with the weird way of thinking.... ;)

I loved what you said I agree. I put a extra house number on a fence post to get mail delivered to the right house. I get annoyed when the postal van, courier drives past our house, I don't tell people either if I win a lot thinking a drought will come. I goggle to see if I have won anything. Check the emails often to see congratulations you have won. I keep thinking what am I doing wrong I enter competitions almost everyday. I rub the budha tummys and I glued the coin on the front step kids try to take it. I say put it on the wish list prizes in the future. Good luck to you hope you win soon. I look at past prizes and think how did that all happen as I use dvds, fridge, barbeque we won in the past.

I always seem to think of a (well seems to me )good 25WOL answer as I'm about to nod off & come morning have forgotten it, did it a few nights ago for a comp that closed the next day so got out of my nice warm bed , fumbled around trying not to wake OH & scribbled it down before going back to bed .
I live up the back in a block of 6 units so never hear the post man but my parcel lady tears up the drive beeping her horn , I can be fast asleep but am out of bed before I even know I'm awake & yelling out I'm coming while I at least give my hair a quick comb .
I check the front of the letterbox (mail is usually hanging out ) today I saw a slip for a registered item in the mail box beside mine & immediately thought he has put it in the wrong 1 ,I did not pull it out to check though , know the people at the PO too well & they would never give something of mine to anyone else ,so will just have to wait to see if it gets put in mine over the weekend (wishful thinking )

Ohhhh oooh 1 more:

When I'm driving down the hill to town to work (we live just outside of a small-ish country town) and I see a van going UP the hill..... i think 'ohhh i should go back so i don't miss the delivery!'. I did make my inlaws turn around once, but I personally have never turned the car around. LOL

Good to know I'm not alone. :D

cher I agree - i've won SO MUCH but .... for me it's not about what i win, just that I've won. (does that make sense?)

My partner works from home and often has stock delivered via australia post or courier van. I'm sure some of those deliveries must be for me but OH insists they are all his.

P.S. Must check the shed while he is out:P:P:P

We had new neighbours move in across the road recently and on a number of occasions Toll has pulled up and I have got all excited and thought 'oh he must of read the number wrong, he'll be over here in a minute' but no!!!! I think she's on Lite n easy which I'm not happy about because my heart will skip a beat many more times to come with her regular deliveries. She also has other couriers pull up and I have now decided that I am going to put a FOR SALE sign up when she's not at home!!

I have also turned around in my car teamhippo when I have seen my parcel lady and gone back 'just in case' she was heading to my house!!

The things us compers do!!!

hehe.. i stalk the postie, and when my mobile rings I get disapointed if its someone i know!

I always check to see the coast is clear before checking the letterbox (obsessive compulsive disorder) about a dozen times a day....even when I know the postie has actually been for the day....in case I missed a letter or a courier has dropped off a card!

Edit: I feel so silly checking my letterbox so often, I now send out Miss 4 to check for me....so I don't feel as bad or get noticed by the neighbours as the comping nutter who always has to check the letterbox.:D

If I get up late, I won't take a shower till after lunch - just in case the parcel post man comes and knocks on the door while I'm in there. He has already caught me once in my towel - I'm not willing to risk it again. LOL.

I call home just after lunch every day to ask if there's any mail for me! I also don't brag about my wins because as soon as I do I stop winning! And I tried not to tell anyone that I'd bought a ticket in the MS Mega Home Lottery this year because I thought if I didn't tell anyone I might win, but my boyfriend found the ticket and what do you know? I won zilch!

This is exactly me too. I send my 3 year old out now too.

I watch my postie through the window when he's delivering my mail. I saw him walk away with a big yellow envelope. I couldn't help but think he stole my mail!

I've also rang my mobile from the house phone and vice-versa to see if my phones are working.

Its hard work being a comper

I feel guilty for having great disappointment with my sister.
She wanted a packet of timtams....I buy her 2 and tell her she needs to enter this comp....I reminder her a few times and she said "Oh I haven't yet" then yesterday she tells me she thinks she threw the reciept out OMG what on earth is she thinking :o:o:mad: Last week she threw out a Nutrigrain box.....after I told her to enter....

She did join lottos and never uses it so I know im safe and she wont read this thread....

I get frustrated when she does it all the time. Sooooo many of her regualr shopping purchases often include comp items. I will always tell her....but NOOooooo she doens't put them in.
Isn't it terrible I let it bother me knowing I shouldn't have given her the receipt and entered for her. At least I have Mum trained :P

Oh and dont forget the super sonic hearing that enables you to detect the postie a mile away. And if you missed him for a day your postitive he didnt' come and must be sitting at home with all the mail.

LOL...I wonder if my neighbours think I have OCD too. They must think Im mad if they see me check the mailbox for the 7th time that day. You never know when you might have missed a parcel card......I wonder how on earth I found one dated from the previous day, twice. :o

When I see a courier (anywhere I live 30 mins from where I work and i still do it) I think to myself 'go to my house, go to my house!' :D:D:D
