Prize Paranoia

posted 9-6-2010 @ 03:14 PM www

Yeah, McWinner, I agree, except I say out loud "Go to my place, Go to my place" and if I'm in the car and see a courier I nearly crash my car because I'm so focused looking out my rearview mirror to see if he will drive down my street.

Almost bursting rather than going to the loo because you know the twitter anouncement is coming, or the gobbledok is going to appear, or the cue to call......

LOL this is hilarious

ohhhh oohhhh new one. checking your private email from work even though you know IT monitor your activities (and you work for the govt) and you don't care cos you know it's totally worth it to see if you've won.....

and doing that 25 times a day and not caring if you get the sack!

When I've been out I rush up the stairs to check my emails to see if I have a WEM. Then I check my phone to see if I have a message?
I look at my Mobile phone 10x a day even though it very rarely rings.
If I'm in bed I drag myself out for the courier even if I AM in my dressing gown and do NOT want to get out of bed.
I love the mail...but only check it once a day as the mail box is a long way away!!! ;)

This is very sad & I think we all need to go to CA - Compers Anonymous!!! :P:P:P:P:P

p.s. & baby_80 I identify with that...when the phone rings and it's not a WPC I get really quite snitchy!!! I get snitchy a lot!!;);):P:P

Oh, I'm soooo glad I'm not paranoid alone :P.
I too check the letterbox everytime I come home and up to 6 times a day (hoping for that winning letter or little card!!), I don't care what the neighbours think:P .
I also check my emails constantly ( hoping for that WEM!).

We also have a 'crazy' dog next door that barks at anything!! So anytime the postie, the gargage truck ( I have learnt to ignore that one!), the COURIER or strangers visit nearby she's off! Today she went crazy while I was in the shower washing my hair- When I eventually got dressed (in a hurry :D), there was a parcel at my letterbox! Gotta love mad dogs!! (btw: our gorgeous Golden slept through it all!!).

These stories are sooo funny- I can see there's no hope for me (as she swaps windows to check email for 4th time this morning n it's not even 9am)...
posted 11-6-2010 @ 09:35 AM www

hahaha when I home I try and decipher what the postie is doin outside. Does he just drive on by?, take a while at our letterbox? know the usual lol
I get annoyed that other people in the street get a visit from the postal van or a courier and I don' dare they :P:P:P:P
as soon as I walk in the door and the OH is home my greeting is "was their any real mail for me today?"
I always check all four of my e-mail accounts regularly even the ones I don't really use for comping in case I used one automatically without checking which one I had used :D:D
It's always good that you are not alone with being nutty ;););)

:P:D:P... great thread :D

I've teed up 2 of my neighbours and the regular delivery drivers to coordinate any drops in my absence... I'd hate for a little red card to blow out of my steel plated/fastened shut mailbox :D:P:D

only place I know where slightly nutty is a good thing! :P:P:P

Perhaps I was not that silly in thinking I should hire an armourguard to moniter my mailbox in my absence:cool::cool::cool:;););):D:D:D

Not happy Jan! I never thought about this behaviour until reading this post. Now I see unmarked white vans heading down my road and get a little anxious. I get disappointed when it's my family calling and not a promoter. This is a can of worms that should never have been opened. I think therapy is in order! ;) :D :P

Ha Ha good read sounds like me, the parcel man always pulls up outside my house but the parcels are always for next door I'm always thinking "surely he's taking them to the wrong address, where's mine"?...

I have got my mum comping and now she doesn't whinge about all the products I buy! Every week when she does her shopping there is stuff on it to purchase for comps, she was embarrassed about it when we went shopping at ALDI and I made a mess of a disused checkout aisle digging out chupa chups, I had the boxes open and everything, and I put 30 of them in her basket and took 30 myself! But I did win the main prize, and because of Chupa Chups she is off to LA and London so she isn't allowed to complain :D  :) :P !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, funny thread...I've just walked in from checking the letterbox on a Saturday! And I had a good look around in case the delivery card got stuck somewhere

If the Aust Post Van goes anywhere in my street I think he has the addy wrong and want to ask to make sure.

Im sure the old lady next door has ninja'd

If on the way to work a Aust Post van goes past I have to stop myself from going back home to check.

Im on a corner block and have a number on my letter box, front door, on the patio rail before the front door and the side gate just incase the postie gets confused.

I get annoyed when someone comes into work and takes out my comping time :)
Like right now I should be finalising accounts for the day but I can't find that Lotto's logout button.....

This is way too funny and comforting to know I'm not the only one who has these crazy thoughts!
posted 21-1-2011 @ 11:46 PM www

actually making conversation with the lady across the street that has massive christmas light display and gets them delivered all through the year, but I still watch out the window to make sure they are not my winnings!! how would I know if they were!!
posted 22-1-2011 @ 07:37 AM www

haha, laughing as I read through this, because I can relate to so much of it!
I know the sound of the parcel lady's car, and hubby is amazed every time I get up and open the door before she's even come in the gate!
I get annoyed every time I look out the window and see her car parked outside my house, but she's across the road having her weekly massage!
I also say 'go to my house' repeatedly, when I pass a courier van on my way to town, and I slow right down if I'm going up my street and pass a courier heading towards my house, watching in the rear view mirror to see if he's stopping!
I am disappointed when I wake up and realise it's a weekend/public holiday... no mail or deliveries today!
I check my mailbox multiple times a day, then also get the kids to check it again when they come home from school!
I google myself, in case I've won something and they haven't notified me... (although this is justified, because it has happened)

Well when the parcel post man pulls up at the neighbours house and does drop a parcel .... It may be yours......

My very elderly neighbour received a lovely hamper filled with sheets, doona +++ and she took it in and opened it up... She was so pleased with herself she came and told me how lucky she was and she did not know who sent it, ""must have been the war widows she said""...
I checked comps with prizes that matched her hamper and yes it was mine..... But I didn't have the heart to tell her she got one of my prizes.....

So YES I am paranoid the driver is delivering my prizes to the wrong house.....

I even went to my neighbours house and put bigger letters on her letterbox so he could not get it mixed up again..

I have also questioned a postal driver if he had the right house when he was next door (as he seemed unsure). And yes he was at the wrong house (but is was not for me it was for a house further down the street....

Awwww good on you blackshadow for not shattering your elderly neighbour's enjoyment :)

I am not ashamed to say that while shopping for a client yesterday I spotted one single lone Golden circle juice with a sticker. I had no money, so I got it and hid it in amongst the others, hoping to get it later today.
My thoughts are that any serious comper will go through the pack anyway so its not really depriving a true comper of a product. Is it?

We have a letter box set in our front fence. I got hubby to put a clear door on the back so I can see when the postie has been without running out to check constantly.

I regularly turn back to wait for the postie when I'm just a couple of hundred metres down the road and see him coming.

I give the postie a gift card at Christmas to keep him sweet and honest. (He must know he's delivering prizes when FOX FM and so on have their names all over the envelopes).

Better get off Lottos and get ready for my first day at my new job.
