Check out Front of Line pass here:
http://www.expedia.com.au/pub/agent.dll?qscr=tsdt
They also do accomodation. We stayed at the Sheraton near Disneyland and there was a shuttle to the park.
Also have a look at Mousesavers for stuff about Disneyland.
I booked everything myself on line when we went and save several thousand (and the dollar was at 80cents at the time)
Viator also has really good tour specials too.
I hate paying too much for holidays, but like to do it in style. I love finding a travel bargain!! |

much closer to Anaheim- really convenient -its just about a 20-25 minute taxi ride away from Disney. From LAX airport to Disney it's much further and
more expensive
The airport is also known as John Wayne airport and the airport code is SNA. We flew with Southwest who include baggage with their prices. You can
only book their flights through the Soutwest website www.southwest.com |
Hey thanks for this tip but when I went to the website it wouldnt allow me to enter any Australian cities?? Is there a trick to it?
Thanks
Thanks so much to everyone for their input it has been great |

HI,
We travelled to Disneyland a year or so again with the kids and stayed at DoubleTRee Hotel, the rooms are great as the bedroom is seperated from the
sitting area which makes it easy to put the kids to sleep but stay up and watch TV etc..and the bathroom is huge with a seperate basin area away from
the toilet and shower so you are not tripping over yourselves. In addition kids eat free in the restaurant and they cook chocolate chip cookies all
day long which are
complimentary.http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/california/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-anaheim-orange-county-SNACCDT/index.html
We got the Disney 3 day California/Disneyland pass which was fantastic value as you could go to the 2 parks. We didn't do Universal this time because
our kids are small but if they were 9 or 10 we would go there.
Driving to San Francisco is amazing and highly recommend visiting Hearst Castle on the way. Vegas is fun too and I would drive if there is 4 of you.
We loved San Diego and doing Sea World and the Zoo with the kids this was a great part of our holiday and next time we would do Lego land which I hear
is pretty awesome.
We booked it all ourselves and got some great deals that travel agents couldn't get. We booked online and through discount accommodation sites and
had no problems.
Also The Cheesecake Shop is a fabulous family restaurant where you can get great meals at affordable prices but only order mains for yourselves and
entrees for the kids otherwise way too much food.
You will have a ball no matter what you do. Enjoy.
Cheers
Monica
Good luck
M.

You can take a tom tom from here, but you would have to buy the USA maps. So you would need one with an sd card slot or you would replace your maps.
When I bought mine over there, i got one with the SD Card slot so taht I could buy the aussie maps when I got back. I just pop out the card, re-start
the unit and it has the usa maps.
(would be a bit out of date now, but probably still fine.) |

HI Amster, sorry if I was confusing. I was talking just about the short flight between Las Vegas and Orange County Airport(for Disneyland), not an
International flight from Australia.
We had our international flights with Qantas into New york and out of Los Angeles with various domestic airlines inbetween which I booked myself
online at the various airline websites. When we left Las Vegas we flew direct from there to Orange County airport and it cost us about $75 one way
each. Obviously when we left Anaheim we had to travel up to LAX, Los Angeles main airport to fly back to Australia.
Hope this makes sense!
Can someone tell me how to reply to a post and include a previous comment!!! |

In relation to Disneyland I found this - the Californian city pass - $279 for adults and kids over 10
"One low price gets you admission to two awesome attractions: Universal Studios HollywoodSM, SeaWorldŽ Adventure Park, and of course, a 3-Day
DisneylandŽ Resort Park HopperŽ Bonus Ticket for DisneylandŽ Park and Disney California AdventureŽ Park. Plus you receive an early entry admission to
a designated DisneylandŽ Resort Theme Park."
I assume Seaworld is the one in San Diego?
is this a good deal?
where is says the bonus ticket - I assume they are just referring to the 3 day park hopper? |

Hi there, just had 3 weeks in usa last month.
Flew to los angeles. Arranged a hire car from zuji.com. Free shuttle bus from the airport to the car rental office. It was really cheap and included
insurance, no excess and unlimited miles. Drove from L,A. to las vegas. About 5 hours. It was not a bad drive. But we needed a snooze on the way and
all the wayside stops were closed. It was too hot to stop without shade. Stayed at the hilton vacationer for $100 a night (1/2 price). Booked on
hotel.com (i think)? Or maybe booking.com?? Great location, free parking and studio room. Worth a day trip to the Hoover Dam. Incredible. We didn't do
the grand canyon. Too hot and saw in 29 years ago. We saw the Cirque du Soleil show - Love - The Beatles. I would also suggest seeing O at the
bellagio casino. Booked via the Cirque du Soleil facebook page for a good deal. 4 nights at Las vegas then drove back to los angeles. If you buy
universal studio tickets via the internet. They had a 2 day ticket for the price of a one day pass $80. The Getty centre was also worth a look,
cultural museum. Incredible building and views, paintings and art works.
Then flew to new york. Got the amtrak train to washington. 3hrs 20 min. trip. Book online and prices vary depending on which train you get? Had 7
nights in washington. What a great place. Then 5 nights in new york. Got around with a one week subway pass. Has fun and if you need more detailed
info. send me a u2u. |

I am currently in the USA. We've just spent the weekend at Lake Tahoe, it was amazing so I'm doing a lottos check in while we drive back to San
Francisco.
We flew in to New York, caught the train to Boston, flew to Vegas from Boston, drove to the Grand Canyon and then drove through Death Valley and
Yosemite to San Francisco. Next week we are driving to Monterey, Santa Barbara and then Anaheim and hitting Disneyland before we head home.
We took 4 days to go from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, through Yosemite and to San Francisco. In hindsight I would've taken an extra day or two to
really enjoy it. Vegas to the Grand Canyon is about 4 hours driving depending on which rim you do (we did the South Rim). We stayed in Flagstaff close
to the Canyon and then had to drive back past Vegas again to go through Death Valley and spent the night there. We drove through Mammoth and checked
out the devils post pile which is a little out of the way and added time to our travel time but definitely worth the view. Then we drove to Yosemite
and stayed the night there. If we did it again we would stay at the June Lake Loop the night and spend an extra day exploring Yosemite and then spend
the night there. Then we drove to San Francisco. Four days after we went through Yosemite they had a storm and closed that pass. Had they closed the
road when we went through we would have had to go the long way round which would have added 4 more hours to our trip so consider that when looking at
what time of year you travel as the roads are closed at certain times.
So lucky for us my sister in laws brother has a time share at the Grand Californian in Disneyland and he goes to Disneyland five times a year! We are
using his time share and going with my SIL and BIL who are familar with Disney. We met my SIL's brother this weekend just passed and he gave us a
detailed explanation of what to hit and what rides to fast pass. He told us that next week is a perfect time to go because we are going just after
Halloween and before the Christmas decorations go up so it will be a very quiet time for the park. We also have tickets in LA to see the space shuttle
which has just been installed there so that may be something you want to check out.
Sorry for the long post but when I read your post I realised I should get the information out of my head while its still fresh. Happy to share
information with you via u2u if you need it. |

WOW all this advice is awesome and really helping me to piece together an amazing trip that all my kids can enjoy and taking in as much of the west
coast as we can.
Can anyone tell me where I would get a map of the west coast so I can start visualising and piecing things together a bit better, don't mind having to
pay for one
Thanks so much |

West Rim is where the glass walkway is and is very popular as a result. My understanding is that you have to pay to go on the glass walkway. South Rim
was very beautiful, lots of vantage points. North Rim is also an option but of course I can't compare the different Rims. It depends on your travel
plans. South Rim was closer for us and provided us with the road trip we wanted but we had also done some research and we heard the South Rim was
quite beautiful. We traveled along Route 66 for part of the way which was an added bonus for us. We stopped in Williams, Arizona for lunch and it was
like being in the movie "Cars". We loved it. We googled North Rim vs South Rim Grand Canyon and there are heaps of forums discussing it, everyone has
an opinion and most agree the two are very different but I think you can't lose whichever Rim you choose. |

Sorry to hijack your thread amster, but we are travelling to LA in March/April
and were looking at driving to Vegas, but we have been there before (stayed at The Bellagio and did a helicopter trip over the Canyon which was
amazing), so was wondering if anybody had been to San Diego without doing Seaworld? Is there much else to see and do there for kids aged 15 and 11?
We don't want to do too much driving and thought San Diego might be nice, but I've only ever heard of the Zoo and Seaworld! |

We took our kids a couple of years ago in early November - the weather was fantastic (everyday was around 25-28*C) and the lines at the parks were
really short.
We stayed in Anaheim for 10 days at the Anabella and also hired a car with a GPS to get around- it was a godsend. If you want to travel around I can
definitely recommend the car and it makes it easier if you just want to drive somewhere to eat or shop. We bought all of our passes before we left
Australia for Disneyland, Knotts Berry farm, Universal and we also took our kids to Magic Mountain as they were a bit older. Buying before is a great
idea- no lining up to buy tickets. I didn't bother with the VIP at Universal and it worked out fine as the lines were so short anyway.
I wish we had split our accommodation time between LA and Anaheim as there really is nothing in Anaheim besides Disneyland.
We flew to Vegas for 3 days, its only like an hour flight- I would have hated driving with my kids! LOL! We stayed at the Flamingo which was
recommended to us as it was reasonably priced and also in the middle of the strip. |

You can use google maps to get a good idea of times to travel from one place to the other.
Also go into the travel agents and ask for all brochures on the areas you want to visit, just say you are trying to figure out where you are going at
the moment then they won`t hassle you for a booking. |
