what format of competitions do you win the most?

I mainly only enter free web based comps, try to keep my average at 100, and for a couple of years, won a prize e.g. DVDs, books, makeup, etc, every month.
Have won an occasional email comp, but enter hardly any, same for purchase comps.
You are not doing it wrong!
Remember that many comps don't end until later in the year.
So, keep entering, then forget.

Thanks - is that 100 a day average?

sometimes it takes months to receive a prize without any notification that you won

I think that means if you go into your User Control Panel and then click on Comps entered her average sits around 100 which means she is usually entered in 100 competitions that are currently still open.

Lately I've been sitting around 140-150.

I'm in 21 current comps. Is the total entered calculated since Jan 1?
I win a mix of draws, WOL and purchase. Occasionally email but they are usually draws or WOL anyway. I seem to be able to win WOL for coffee machines but not cars, for chocolates ( Ihave about $1000 worth so far ) but not holidays. Best to enter and forget.

Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

The harder you work the luckier you get

Just enter and forget. I enter heaps and haven't won anything in months a lot of the time prizes just turn up from comps I entered months ago that I've forgotten about.
Don't stress :)

WOL....WOL...WOL.....and mail in!

(combine your words with artwork...the promoters love it!)

I generally win between 4 or 5 overseas trips a year....the joy is in the challenge, execution and then completion!!!!!!

1 in 200 is about right when you first start out. When you get better at 25WOL, you can get around 1 win in 150 comps entered (or even down to 1 in 100 - I'm still working on that!). But you will always be entering far more competitions than you win. What compers live in hope for - is that one of those wins will be a big one. E.g. I won an $8000 electronics package from a draw (2 TVs, 2 Cameras, Video camera, tablet, dock and smart phone). It was my biggest win, but the majority of my wins are worth less than $100.

It's almost impossible to make a profit (or a living) off comping. If you want to make money, working more hours at your job is the best way to go. Most of us do it for the challenge of thinking up the perfect 25WOL, the excitement and the thrill of the win (even the really small ones) and the fun of "stalking" our local postman.

My advice - keep going another month - and if at the end of the month you don't completely love it, don't keep going. It's got to be the BEST hobby you've ever had. I tell my friends, if you don't completely love it - it's not worth it - but if you do get addicted - it's the most fun you can ever have.

Most of my wins are from purchase and FB comps, about half and half.

I enter all types of comps except those voting comps that I'm not really interested in the prizes. Love those comps like the Toyota finders keepers recently.

Never won off a purchase, or even a draw (I think). Only WOL and facebook comps. Nothing major though, but lots of small stuff.

Everyone's different and every year is different. I've won a few wol but I'm not very good at them so I don't get my big prizes there. My bigger prizes usually come from purchase comps (won twice in the Energizer comp this year) but did win a car many years ago now from an online, no purchase required, daily entry.

Just keep at it and mix up your entries. You don't know where your next win will come from. I've been at it quite some years now and my winning odds are about 1/100 entries. A lot depends on the type of comps you enter too. I wouldn't win 1/100 if I only entered comps with one major prize, for example.

Hard to win SMS comps just can't crack them and they gobble up the dosh

Usually only win with WOL (once only entry). Have done well with overseas/domestic holidays (4 in 3 years) and some other great prizes. Very rarely win a random competition........................................but I'm certainly not complaining!
I don't agree with enter, enter, enter philosophy.
Just keep plugging away. It is not as easy as some people think. Very competitive with some great writers out there.

60 % of my wins are WOL's. 30% draws and the other 10% creative.. . My serious WOL's seem to win the best prizes, but the creative ones (cooking and crafty things as well as photography) are the most fun , I probably spend too much time on them but it's the challenge that's fun, if I win, all the better. I agree if you don't love competitions then don't do it, but if you do, just keep entering because there's nothing as exciting as a parcel collection notice you weren't expecting in the mailbox!!!

This year 20% of my wins have been WOLs, the rest have been mainly drawn, but around $10,000 of my wins have been from purchase comps.
