Facebook Comp's - do you check ??

Hi fellow compers,

Being new to the facebook comp world, do you need to go back to the sites and check for wins or do you get notified or "tagged" if you win ????

Advice most appreciated and many happy good luck sprinkles to you all

***** insert good luck spinkles ;) *****

BenBrianna123 the times I have won a facebook comp the promoters have messaged me & have then outlined what's next....confirm details, how the prize will be sent etc

Hope that helps ;););)

Sometimes pages tag you and you don't get a notification so you have to hope you or someone else sees it. Don't forget to check "other" messages too as sometimes they'll message and you won't see it.

Good luck :)

Unfortunately I have been tagged by the promoter and it sometimes doesn't show in my notifications at all Some competitions require you to make contact in a short amount of time or you forfeit the prize. Unless you have a huge bevy of fellow competition friends who might tell you themselves it may pay to check.

Thanks to a face book friend I found out I had won yesterday. They messaged me - otherwise I would not have seen it
Thanks - you know who you are - much appreciated

I learnt the hard way & missed out on a weekend away as not all promoters tag you & they had messaged me but it went to my "other" inbox.

I won a facebook comp last year but when they announced my name, they didn't tag me, so I had no idea until about 3 or 4 weeks later, when I got a WEM.

If you enter via an app and give an email they sometimes email. If it is just a like and or share that is where it gets more tricky. Each day I do the arduous and frustrating task of scrolling through my newsfeed. Oh how I wish facebook would allow you to pick a time to scroll back to because inevitably I click on something accidentally when I have gone through the first few hours only to have to start again at the beginning. I work so when I get home I have hours of advertising to scan. The problem is that not all companies feeds show up on your page all the time either. I have a couple of comper facebook friends who I tag if I see their name and I hope they would do the same. Once every so often I search in google by typing... site:facebook.com "Your Name" winner congratulations other than that I just have to let it go. I am not one of the big winners but I have won a couple of things on facebook. Probably missed a few too.

A lot of sites now put winners names within a photo. Unless you or a friend see the photo you won't know. Pays to check back regularly (I am very bad at that!)

My daughter has found my name months later as a winner...sometimes you can get lucky and win the prize other times you miss out!

I've won a trip on the Indian Pacific, iPad just for liking, a lots of books. All page owners do their own thing. Some notify. Some don't . Sometimes you miss out.

Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

The harder you work the luckier you get

I recommend checking back using your activity report. I open a new window on the post photo or link (so as not to lose my place in the list and have to start from the top again). When you are in the new window, if there is nothing on the competition post, you can go to their page and check if they have posted a "winners post". I have been doing this periodically because I have won some facebook comps and received no notifications. You can mark "get notifications" under the Page Like but it's no guarantee. The only way to be sure is to check.

Absolutely - you have to check, especially the "like and share" comps.

If it's listed on Lottos - I star it as a Favourite, and then go back and check (and keep checking) until they announce the winners - then I change it to a Green Tick to take it off my Favourites list.

I also keep a note pad next to my computer and note down the pages to recheck (crossing them off as I find winner announcements).

If anyone does find a winner announcement, I encourage them to post it on the Monthly Winners URL List. This helps a lot!

I usually find out because a friend tags me. I had one message go into others folder and only knew because friends tagged me. I also found that my husband won because someone posted on lottos. If more people post the winners like langod suggested it would help us all from missing those. I think with big prizes and if you provided your personal info they will contact you but lot will simply announce it on the wall for smaller prizes and they even say on the photo that you have a few days to reply or it will be reallocated.

I need to be more organised like this...thanks for these good suggestions.

I normally have only found out via friends tagging me, but sometimes when a company has replied directly to my post I have only seen it because I went back to the page to look for a winner.

Will make an effort to post in the URL list too.

I recently won a FB competition and wasn't tagged or messaged and it didn't show up on my timeline nor was I told about it by friends. Luckily someone had seen it on Lotto's and posted it in the monthly winners thread. It was a great prize too- and it would have gone to someone else if it weren't for the lovely people here at Lotto's  I love this site!

I now keep track of all Facebook competitions I enter in a Word document, with the close date/draw date and link etc. I would have been devastated had I missed out- so it's taught me a valuable lesson

I never go back to look. Recently a kind lottoer told me about a win  and all the rest of the times, that I know of, they've messaged me.

I personally think it's very mean of them not to bother contacting a winner.

there is a "code" to search - does anyone remember it?

I have given up on fb comps. So time consuming and hard to keep up for little reward unless it is a big prize then I enter. Goodluck to those who do

It definitely pays to check your "messages" on Facebook. A couple of months ago I checked mine for the first time (stupidly had never noticed it before even though I've been on Facebook since it started) and found many messages there from family and friends and one, from a competition I entered about 2 years ago, where I had won the major prize (worth nearly $2000). They tried repeatedly to get me to answer the message with my details and finally gave me 3 days, after which time they were going to do a redraw.

I missed out on that prize. I've learnt my lesson and now check my messages every time I'm on Facebook.

I find this site really helpful in finding wins.
Make sure you play around with your words as different wins will appear.
Eg. Congratulations NAME winner or I may add words such as competition, giveaway, pm,dm, won and email.

I take note of the date that the winner will be announced or I make a 'guestimate' about the date (if the promoter hasn't listed an announcement date) , then I place a reminder in my iPhone. I check the comp post when my reminder pops up. If the 'winner' details haven't been announced yet, I change the date on my reminder, so I receive another message in a couple of days. I keep this up until the winners are announced. It sounds complicated, however it's easy.

I keep a diary near my laptop and write the comp in on the close date, a couple of times a week I check and cross them off .....lots of crosses and not many wins :(
