Travel insurance pre-existing health condition
Hi everyone..there have been discussions on Lottos before about finding travel insurance for people with health conditions, but I have done a search
and can't find it.
Is someone able to find the thread for me please-or could it have been deleted?
Thanks so much...lottos and it's members are so helpful. |

There have been quite a few over the years.
Here's one that I saved a while back. I'm sure others will chip in as well once they read it.

Thanks heaps kenoath...when you say you saved it a while back, do you just save the link somewhere on you computer so you can find it later. |

There have been quite a few topics over the years. All I do to save them is to click on the gold star

All I do to save them for future reference is to click on the Gold Star that represents Add To Favourites and it will save them. I can then go into
the User Control Panel and look up the Favourites section and find them years later unless they have been deleted.

Recently travelled overseas and booked and insured through Escape Travel. Husband over 70 and was fully insured and myself with diabetes also fully
insured and the insurance was about $100 each and for another $20 it was good for 12 months. |

Don't forget to check your credit cards for free travel insurance, especially if you hold gold or platinum cards.
We're going on a big trip later this year and Commonwealth Gold credit card has free insurance that will cover both hubby and myself. We found it to
be a better policy than the one on his Platinum NAB credit card.
Commonwealth also gives you basic coverage automatically, but if you notify them of your trip & activate your insurance you get upgraded to full
coverage. There is no auto coverage with NAB, you have to activate it to be covered.
This has saved us hundreds of dollars. |

Escape Travel doesn't personally sell travel insurance, they'll be selling you a policy from a company that they have a deal with. I believe they use
Cover More.

I've used Covermore in the past for a serious medical condition and they covered it no problem. I'd be wary of the credit card insurance with
pre-existings. |

We used Defence Health travel insurance last time. They covered my dodgy back when others wouldn't, including Covermore who we've always previously
used. |

Any insurance you get through a third party and not though an insurance company directly will be underwritten by someone else. In the case of
Commonwealth bank it's Allianz. Escape Travel uses Cover More. You get the same policy as if you purchased direct. You just have to do your own
research to see if they cover what you're after.
One person's medical condition just needs to be slightly different to another's to make a difference as to coverage. I've looked at plenty of policies
because I'm a diabetic. Most say they'll cover Diabetics, however you need to meet certain conditions, ie. your most recent HbA1c has to be within a
certain range and/or you have no other conditions like heart condition, kidney disease or high cholesterol. Some won't even cover you if you have had
a change in your medication in the past 6 months. Each person has to read the policy carefully for their own specific condition.
