Anyone been to Korea?
My daughter is looking at travelling (probably solo) in July and has been to Thailand, Cambodia, Bali & Singapore and was looking for somewhere
different and has decided maybe Korea. I'm pleased as it sounds safer than some other places and looks really interesting. If anyone has anything
to share about travel there I'd love to hear about it! She'll be doing it on
the cheap so no 5 star hotels (although always good to hear about those in case I win one lol). |

Could be interesting. We've never been. Hoping you are talking about South Korea, and not North. (Not sure they let anyone in up there anyway!) |

Hi. Yes, my husband and I traveled around South Korea some years back. It was a wonderful trip; we both loved the food( I think I travel to eat!)
culture and sights. We started in Seoul, traveled down the eastern side of the country down to JeJu Island. We never felt unsafe. We found the
people to be very helpful and friendly. Great shopping;extremely high quality goods. Lots of interesting things to see and do... we walked inside lava
tubes, visited tombs , the DMZ etc. Highly recommend South Korea as a tourist destination. We would be happy to return. |

Thanks so much Adamay. Food is SUCH a big part of travel for her too (me too). Your trip sounds amazing. We both spent a lot of time googling
yesterday and found lots of blogs as well and the more we read the better it sounds! Off to google JejJu Island now and the lava tubes now as we
missed those. It sounds like a really interesting and different place to visit. |

I've already given her the panicked Mum instructions of being VERY careful not
to accidentally step over the border. She said there's a tour you can do that goes into the 'no-mans land' between the two countries and I said
"What if you accidentally go over the border, they won't let you back in" and she said "Don't be ridiculous, they shoot you if you step over". Anyway
I'd be happy if she doesn't go anywhere NEAR the border but apart from that it sounds super safe. I actually think you can do guided tours into small
sections of the North but I'll be happy if she doesn't venture in! |

I haven't been to Korea, but I liked a Korean Tourism page on FB https://www.facebook.com/SeeKorea/?fref=ts for a comp, which always has interesting posts. (And I have been to a lovely function at the centre).
They are very helpful and keen to promote tourism |
