Norwegian Jewel 15 day Canada/Alaska trip
Hi wondering if anyone has travelled on the Norwegian Jewel Ship ?
We are going in June ( not a win) and it is 8 days from Seattle, stopping at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway & Victoria.
I Would love to know if anyone did any tours etc at these places? We have not booked anything as yet.
Hoping to get some wonderfull lottoers input?
thankyou

Have you had a look on the Roll Call for that sailing on Cruise Critic, sometimes they will have passengers organising private excursions looking for
extras to join them.

I went on MS Oosterdam, so can't help with that ship. Did Medenhall Glacier hike from Juneau, pretty easy walk and nice to be out in the great
outdoors.
Ketchikan did the ziplining tour, think I scared all the bears down on the forest floor below. Great experience. Spent the rest of the day
discovering Creek St, which you can do yourself without paying for any tours.
In Victoria, so many good tours to do, so depends on time. Zodiacs amongst the Orcas was unbelievable and I really enjoyed the Butchart Gardens. Go
down to the waterfront in front of the Fairmont Empress and catch a water taxi to Barbs - they'll know it. Best fish n chips ( try the halibut ) ever
and the most quaint floating village location. |

We have been on NCL Pearl twice for Alaskan cruise, we loved them both - one in 2012 from Seattle 7 nights, one ladt year (May) for 10 nights
Vancouver to Seattle.
An absolute highlight but can be pricy was an helicopter glacial landing with dog sledding (real dog sledding in the glacier - not summer dog
'sledding' which is a kart on wheels pulled by the team.
Check out Era Helicopters - they have heaps of tours and are very well run. It was an absolute amazing tour the scenery was amazing.
This was from Juneau (Taku Glacier) - google it and the reviews.
We went in May - mothers day. What time of year are you going?
The other 'must' is the Whitepass Train at Skagway. First year we did up and down on train. Last year we booked independently with Chilkot
Adventures train up - crossing over boarder at Fraser, and coach down - Emerald Lake was pretty (just a quick photo stop) visited Carcross, saw the
Alaska sign and the Yukon signs.
Do you go to Sitka? If you check the Rhino Grizzly tour - we saw 2 large grizzly cubs rather close up (still wonder to this day where their mum was).
Are you doing Canada too?
If you do, I recommend a trip to Whistler - we had snow the dsy we went, and saw a young black bear at the road (near a beautiful waterfall).
Both times we went, even though same time of year, were so different - first time temos were about 3 or 4 degrees and had layers on, last year hubby
relaxed on our balcony in bare top.
You'll love it there.
Love the french onion soup in the restaurant on NCL.
They have a buffet (i honestly wouldn't recommend it), there are pay extra restaurants, but we just went for dinner at the free restaurant (not
buffet) and it was good. Lunch time we liked Blue Lagoon (niw has a change of name that I can't recall - name changed prior to last cruise but I
can't for the life of me remember it (it was free - but again not buffet).
Enjoy your cruise. |
