Anybody else dislike Facebook competitions?

I really enjoy Face a Book comps, yes they do find out loads about us, but for me it has allowed me to write and be creative, great therapy for me. Must say have had quite a few wins, a box of a Beef a Jerky this week, for my son, and last week a good quality hose fitting, maybe small things to some, but love getting these in the post rather than bills.

Good luck to all compers.

I don't think they are going to go away so I have to get used to them! I won't share but I will tag a couple of people. I definitely don't bother with any that have thousands of entries to win a cup of coffee. I have won a lot over the years from FB comps including overseas holidays so stick with those that suit me and skip over the rest.

Can't stand the bare your soul to win though, there was one I entered this morning that asked you to like and tag one friend...had over 1200 entries and most not only tagged but shared their sob stories. People seem to have forgotten what dignity and privacy are!

I don't like facebook comps, very rarely enter them as don't like 'tagging' or everyone seeing my answers or for that matter me seeing theirs (it stops my train of thought), having said that I have won 2 holidays from Facebook, but they have been a click the link pop up entryform type so very private to enter.

hahaha, I agree :) I deleted both my FB accounts on the 1st Jan this year and haven't been happier:thumbup:

Yes!! Absolutely detest them. Especially those that require you to show your answer publicly.
I used to win heaps of prizes years ago but now that most are FB comps I barely win a thing :(

I think they're heading towards more & more online creative entries. I've seen this when checking out what's happening in the comping world overseas and they talk a lot about taking the right photo or making a short video. I think some promoters like to see their product promoted visually by their entrants in a creative way. Costs them far less than an advertising agency.

I think over time facebook comps will reach their peak and then taper down. I've been entering comps on and off since 2007 and there seems to be a cycle of how to enter comps e.g at one time rafflecopter was really popular but there doesn't seem so much of it now. So don't get discouraged everything always evens out in the end.

I hate it too but that's where most of the comps are so I keep going if Fb didn't have all the comps I wouldn't even have an account it is so nasty people feel that they can judge criticize and be plain damn nasty to anyone

Snazzie, I found the Facebook Guidelines.

https://www.facebook.com/page_guidelines.php

E. Promotions

1. If you use Facebook to communicate or administer a promotion (e.g. a contest or sweepstakes), you are responsible for the lawful operation of that promotion, including:

a. The official rules;

b. Offer terms and eligibility requirements (e.g. age and residency restrictions); and

c. Compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing the promotion and all prizes offered (e.g. registration and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals)

2. Promotions on Facebook must include the following:

a. A complete release of Facebook by each entrant or participant.

b. Acknowledgement that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

3. Promotions may be administered on Pages or within apps on Facebook. Personal Timelines and friend connections must not be used to administer promotions (e.g. "share on your Timeline to enter" or "share on your friend's Timeline to get additional entries" and "tag your friends in this post to enter" are not permitted).

4. We will not assist you in the administration of your promotion, and you agree that if you use our service to administer your promotion, you do so at your own risk.

I'm going to start my own campaign by posting number 3 on FB comps who ask you to tag friends. :lol:

Dislike is an understatement for me. 2000+ people battling it out for a $15 lipstick or something, all having to share with friends for 'extra' entries. Quite ridiculous. I pick and choose the credible ones with a link to entry form. Dislike sharing, but have done if absolutely necessary to enter. Someone here posted a while back a link to the T&C's for FB Comps. 90% of them don't follow them. Apparently you cannot ask people to share in order for them to enter. Wish I could find it. I'd cut and paste in into every comp I see that asks that - and hopefully raise awareness out there to others that blindly follow what they are told to do and share, sometimes multiple times for an entry. Also keep Companies honest and slow the flood. Liking the page and completing an entry form should be enough. Perhaps they think it is extra work for them to create and put up an entry form, and for people to complete it. They are not true Compers!

Thank you zen. I will be doing the same with guideline 3.

I stick mostly to the ones with forms. I do let myself get sucked into the timeline ones if it's a major prize like at TV, but get lazy about checking back to see who won.

I wish that they would PM the winner, but petamouse pointed out that they cannot.

Vis a vis sob stories, here's what one person posted, "No suckhole message from me to win your heart, we all are going through something and need a holiday... so universe do what you do and good luck everyone."
