Free Roadside Assist for under 21s NSW, ACT, VIC, WA, QLD - not sure about other states/territories
In case it is useful to someone, any driver under 21 can apply for a year of NRMA (and RACV and possibly other state equivalents) Roadside Assistance
for free (free2go program). They also get cheap rates for the next two years. I just helped my daughter to sign up. She is 21 in a couple of months
but she is covered for the year anyway and gets the discounts for the next two years after the first year. It covers any car she is in including as
a passenger - for up to four events per year. It also includes things like flat battery, flat tyre, running out of petrol etc.
Well worth it if your under 21 year old has their own car or drives a family car almost exclusively. Our daughter travels on country roads frequently
and it covers towing to the nearest NRMA service centre as well.
(Thanks M F for the additional info about Vic) RAC Queensland and WA also seem to have similar offers.
edit: AANT has 50% off for new drivers.
edit: also useful if your under 21 driver doesn't have their own car and are going out with friends as they can use their membership to get assistance
as a passenger! |

Yep. My daughter is 19 and she has this cover "NRMA GO" and the car she is travelling IN is covered. It's incredible, no matter who's car she is
in, NRMA will come and repair that car!! So awesome! |
