I hope this is a tongue-in-cheek comment, because I've already seen you comment and be angry with a promoter for not following the rules in a WOL
comp.

Hello,
Just wanted to check for your WOL competition that it isn't judged on creativity? I certainly hope you won't be choosing a rhyme or a clever poem.
I then want you to share the entry so I can stamp my feet and cry that the answer was not creative enough, sparking n outcry of "A Current Affair"

I saw a fb one yesterday that had asked for a creatively worded response under 50 wol. The winner was neither. I couldn't bring myself to (publically)
whinge or spoil someone's excitement over winning though. I whinged on my own fb page but lol |

Last weekend I won a $150 voucher. I didn't see the word limit requirement so just wrote a funny story which went over the limit. Heaps of entrants
before me and after me also wrote long answers too. But it was my mistake not to be thorough and read the instructions properly. They congratulated
me, as did lots of other people etc., but on Monday morning they messaged me to say they were withdrawing the prize because I hadn't followed the T
& C's. I told them I understood and would keep on trying only in future I'll be more careful to read the rules. I agree with what they did, it was
unfortunate that they didn't pick it up before they awarded me the prize because it stings to have it, then not have it. But I do hate it when you see
a winner who has not followed the rules, win. Please remember though, that we all make genuine mistakes from time to time, the promoters too. This
thread is about entrants going out of their way to get an unfair advantage. It is a very deliberate thing. |

Quite possibly they may have got backlash over picking a winner over 25WOL. Promoters should not make simple mistakes like the amount of words, it is
them that set the rules. |

I agree. Sometimes we agonise over which word to remove... to get our entry from 26words to 25. Then someone with 47 words wins. Sometimes it can
be quite a genuine mistake. But it's always nice for promoters to admit they didn't do their due dilligence and check correctly. Sorry you had your
prize withdrawn. :-( |

sorry you lost out on your prize Graycen to an honest mistake.
It happens a lot with FB comps that the word requirement isn’t made clear on the post, and in only mentioned in T & C. How hard can it be for the
promoters to make it clear to start with. |

Honest mistake Graycen and you took it on the chin. As you said, this thread is about people who deliberately cheat or try to get an unfair advantage.
I once won a prize from a purchase comp and couldn't find my receipt, even though I usually carefully file them away. The promoter said I couldn't
have the prize without the receipt, and fair enough. too. Taught me to be more thorough with filing receipts away.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to those members who are still clarifying whether creative entries are being accepted. It's very much appreciated!

Hi Lowndes888,
I saw that you are a newbie and don't know that what people are complaining about is not rhymes or clever poems, we love and admire those, what makes
people cross is, when a comp says "post on Facebook 25 WOL" then someone posts in a a diarama with highly decorateed figurines, etc and they win
because "they went to so much effort"!
Creative 25 WOL on the FB as per rules is great and admired. Promoter and entrant ignoring the rules that were published do not
Good luck comping

I can't see any problem with creative 25 wol or less on the online form. Even writing your thought in a paragraph or poem is creative. Format should
not be a problem. Poems, rhymes, ACROSTICS etc. There are all legit as long as they are 25 WOL on the form. The problem arises when the promoter says
'form only', and so you do not make a creative arty entry, and then they accept one and chose it as winner."I remember decades ago people would knot
their entries or send in papier-maché stuff, all sorts. They were much too clever for me.
Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000
The harder you work the luckier you get

Really well said gr82do!
If it's an online entry, purchase required or 25wol... and someone mails in or delivers some amazing creative item with their words attached and wins,
that's not fair.
If they ask for an amazing creative item with words or receipt attached, then that's all good, but if they have only asked for 25wol entered online,
then anything outside of that is an unfair advantage, which the promoters "like" to view as "above and beyond" impressive entry.
We are just trying to make each promoter "come clean" as to what they will and will not accept as an entry BEFORE the comp has ended. So they know to
possibly expect some delivered items trying to win over (asked for) 25wol. |
