Campervaning in NT

Hi all
We are planning a trip in July flying into Darwin then out of Alice Springs. Flights are booked but just looking at van hire now. Any tips or advice? I know I can get a discount with Apollo through NRMA and entertainment book any other good deals?
Also any advice on things we must do or surviving with 3 young boys lol.

Thanks in advance.

PS we will have 2 days in Darwin prior then 14 days Darwin to Alice.

You will love this trip.
We flew into Alice hired a Apollo van and drove to Darwin then flew home within 2 weeks with 3 kids.

Very humid in Darwin and our last day parked the van and booked a hotel for the Air con. Lots of mozzies. We drove through and stayed in Kakadu, it was beautiful. Stayed a night at the BIG 4 alien caravan park. Then told the kids alien stories and looked at the stars that night for space crafts.
Hubby said this was his dream trip and loved it.

Be careful when returning the Apollo van, we returned in Darwin and there was about 3 other couples having trouble returning.
When driving from Kakadu to Darwin we drove through road works so the van got red dust/dirt on wheels and bottom of van. They accused us of going off road and refused to return deposit and made us clean then van. They would not supply bucket or water to wash. Told us to go to local car wash which the height would not let us enter. We ended up at a local tyre repair shop and used their water to wash. After returning to Apollo and telling them we washed they gave us our deposit back. Very rude customer service.

But overall loved the trip
Uluru was amazing, we did climb and it was very hard but so worth it. I would not recommended for small children.
Kings Canyon, loved it. Bit of a hike but beautiful.
Devil Marbles are on the way.

Check the Apollo van before leaving, our bathroom was not the best and the tap was very hard to turn on and off.

Pack soft bags so they can be squashed under the bed when not needed, We had all of our luggage under the kids bed.

Have a fantastic tip.
