South Africa and Safari advice

Iíve booked a 20 day safari for September from Cape Town to Victoria Falls via Namibia and was wondering if any lovely lottoers have done something similar. Its 90% camping so itís going to be a challenge (iím more a 3/4 star hotel gal) so Iím wondering what can I expect?

Iím staying in Cape Town for a couple of days beforehand and then staying in Johannesburg for a couple days afterwards. Im looking for hotel recommendations and ideas for things to do. Safety is a big issue especially since iím travelling solo but is there anything else I need to worry about?

I have a sleeping bag, travel pillow, mozzie repellent and torch on my list but is there anything else that i should take to make things easier remembering i have to pack very light

We did a family trip to SA which included a 5 day camping safari. We paddled down the Zambezi and camped by the river. I am not sure what kind of camping you are doing but ours was pretty nice. We also stayed at the Elephant Camp in a luxurious "tent" which had a pool on the deck and Imbabala complete with hippos on the front lawn! It was the best holiday ever. We won part of the trip and added the safari and cape town.
In Joburg do the bus trip and go to the apartheid museum which is one of the stops. Also Robbin Island via the ferry while in Cape Town. The cheetah outreach centre is a bit out but worth the trip. We stayed at the Protea Hotel North Wharf which was a comfortable walk to the V&A, but there are nice hotels along the beaches.
Vic Falls is spectacular. Go to the Vic Falls Hotel for high tea. Be mindful that the local boys will chat to you and be very friendly but they are just trying to sell you stuff. Don't hold anything they offer as it will be considered a sale.
Make sure you have your immunisations and take malaria tablets.
