Airbnb Advice
Hi all - thinking of doing the greek islands Late August 2019 for 2 weeks? & were on a very tight budget, seeking advice on various accomodations
and any tour trips etc. ... 'Trip A Deal' has a greek Island hopper deal but tour dates dont coincide.
Also - if we did book such a deal - do they let you stay longer and come back later?
Any advice on what to avoid would be helpful too.

Hi Calliope.
Not overly experienced with either the Greek Islands or TripADeal but have done both once.
Firstly, I believe that TripADeal deals are for a set time and usually can't be extended... but you could contact them on that. However I must add
that the TripA Deal deal we did (Sri Lanka and the Maldives but entirely fabulous and faultless).
Our experience re. Greek Islands was wonderful. We went to the ferry terminal in Piraeus and simply caught a ferry to an island (we chose the next
to leave as we wanted an adventure). We had no accomodation booked and it wasn't a hassle because when we arrived many touters for local accomodation
greeted us and we simply made our choice. We did this for 4 islands and had no problems at all. And all our accomodation was great and cheap.
This was in 2017 so it may have changed. Worth considering though. |

Thanks adamay - Yes the touters - I would do ths if it were just myself and hubby but as there are 5 of us, im worried we will end up sleeping on th
beach (lol).
If anyone else can assist woth recommended tour companies or accomodation etc - that would be great too. - Thanks. |

Hi Calliope,
late August is likely to be high season with higher pricing in the Greek islands.
in June 2017 I did a Bunnik tour that was in Greece It included the island of Crete and stayed in two locations there. i loved Crete. it then went
to Santorini. The tour stayed in Fira. I then spent extra time and stayed in Oia. It was very crowded and extremely commerical.
i then did island hopping to other islands in the Cyclades group and flew from the last place to Athens.
Smaller islands might me more economical for you. I went to Sifnos, Milos, Folengandros, Naxos and Paros. I prebooked all of my accommodation. I
chose accommodation based on trip advisor and booking.com reviews.

We travelled to Hydra and loved it. The main piece of advice we received was "Get a taxi to the ferry. Do not take a bus." We took a bus. Big
mistake... huge!! (Sorry Pretty woman!)

Any more helpful hints. We are travelling in August too and hoped to do our own thing getting around on bus train or ferry. Is that achievable. We
were hoping not to be confined to a tour itinerary but hope that doesnt mean it is a lot more costly. Experiences and stories appreciated.
We are going to Italy, Greece, Switzerland, maybe Austria and Germany |

Anyone done AIRBNB on greek islands - a im finding it hard to get 3 bedrooms for 5 adults.
As ive never booked airbnb, was hoping for safe sound advice here too please, especially on the greek islands. |

Consider looking at vrbo.com. ( Vacation Rental By Owner)
Have not used for Greece but had successful stays in Italy booking through this site. |

I haven’t done Airbnb in Greece but have recently done it in Italy. Most
Places were good however we had one terrible place which was not what it stated. My advice is to really check the reviews of what other people write.
If there is No reviews I would be slightly worried. |
