I love exploring country towns, so today I went and visited Murtoa.

Here is what I found:

A very very small town consisting of the chemist, IGA, post office, one cafe and a couple of craft shops. The town has mainly retired people there.
The chemist has two doors, one at the front and one leading to the clinic. Both doors have a massive poster on them advertising the comp. The items to buy also have tags on the shelf saying it is an eligible product.
The box and entry forms are clearly displayed on the counter.
The box was chockablock full of entries. You could hardly fit any more entries in.
I made a joke to the chemist that my entry wonít fit. He said it is sooo popular in town that everyone enters multiple times. He said there has been a few Murtoa winners and the local newspaper always writes an article and takes a photo of the winner every time the town wins.

Then I went strolling the town. The craft shop lady had a joke with me that sheís entered multiple times ( as the handwash is only $1.99 to purchase) and everyone in the town competes against each other to win, in a friendly way.

So I reckon Murtoa is legit.
The craft lady said the girl who works in the chemist is pendantic in making sure all the entries are sent off.

I now reckon the other Best Buys pharmacies donít always send their entries in. This box at Murtoa was completely full of entries and the comp isnít close to closing yet

Fabulous dodger21, I wonder about shops sending in paper entries too.

Glad to hear a good story Thanks Dodger21. I am always one to think the best, always giving the benefit of the doubt, glad it has paid off with this heart warming story of that little rural town. They sound like a great community.

I went to Murtoa today. I happened to mention to the lady at the pharmacy, Joanne, that there arenít any winners published for last month yet. She said yes, she knows and she is on to the promoter as it is meant to be published 48 hrs after the draw.

The other unusual thing she mentioned is that previously, before it went to online entries, the promoter used to ring the store and tell the winning store the winners name. It was then up to the store to ring the winner and tell them. Thatís why Joanne loved so many Murtoa winners as she got to deliver the good new to the older ladies in town.

Now the promoter rings the winner direct and, if they didnít upload a receipt with their online entry, they have 48 hrs to produce it otherwise itís a redraw.

Joanne said the last time a winner from Murtoa won, the promoter rang the older lady winner direct. The older lady, not recognising the pharmacists Joanneís voice, hung up and thought it was a prank call. When the winners were published and Joanne saw a locals name, she rang the winner who had no idea she had really won and she had hung up on the caller because itís wasnít a call from Joanne
