Misleading winning email
Hi everyone
I am sure this isn't the first time this has happened or the last time. This morning I was excited to read "Mr Chen's Mum with the Most Competition
Winner!" in the heading of an email I received.
I haven't been winning anything for ages and had thought that my luck had changed. When I opened the email, it mentioned someone else had won.
Who else received this email, please, and how did you feel? |

It tricked me...almost.... I started double checking everything as I do (so many scammers) then on my second read through realised I wasn't a winner |

I did'nt enter/get *this* one, but I have had many, many of similar ones with the competition promoter and winner! in the subject line, all of which
when you open tell you it was not you who won
I always unsubscribe and send a message about why
Very poor form in my opinion
I would rather not knowingly support companies who choose to try to make people think they won something and are just trying to grab a quick buck
from so called special discount codes
I read somewhere a while ago the reason some companies do this is to basically just 'make sure their email gets read' |

Yes, my estimation of this company has gone down. If I had to do a survey - in the past I might have said 8/10 - now it is a 5/10! |

I get this type of email several times a day.
Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000
The harder you work the luckier you get

Received one of them too, and thought the same. Bit annoying, but at last the winner was announced I suppose. Not uncommon type to receive though. |

It's SO disappointing, annoying and frustrating... all of these emotions come after the excitement of thinking I've won! |

I received it too ... however, as I didn't enter any Mr Chen's competitions was not as disappointed as the rest of you. I have, in the past, received
similar emails where I HAD entered ... only to become bitterly disappointed when I read it.

I get these emails often and always unsub too and let them know why.
The same goes for when the email subject starts with "Re:" like "with regard to" an email that I had supposedly sent. These are another way to get
people to open the email and I make sure the company knows it is very unprofessional of them and always feel like a scam. |

Yep misleading & disappointing - however, saves me time looking up comp so I can unsub from the ongoing amount of new subs due to comping. |

Yes very time wasting emails for the recipient I gotta say and there is many of this style of emails coming through now but also quite easy to detect
delete & unsubscribe |

Get these all the time too. Now when I log into my email I tell myself that any 'winner email' is just announcing the winner, which is what most are.
Then, if I am the winner, it's a bonus. |
