Couple of questions about travelling to Hobart
thinking of organising a surprise holiday in Tassie next month.
My main question is:
Is transport from the airport (Hobart) readily available? And then back from city centre to airport when it's time to leave?
and some ideas of things to do--2 adults, no car.
Just tossing up ideas.

Just another idea. We went on a cruise ship. No transport to airports needed. No fuel cost or accommodation needed so makes cruise cost relative.
Relaxing fab trip. Meals etc provided.
The cruise ship terminal is right at the city. Just walk off and into town.

we have a voucher to use for accommodation so that's not an issue.
And I tend to get motion sickness so perhaps that wouldn't be an ideal option |

Yes transport is readily available. Like any airport arrival I would recommend you decide how you're going to get to and from in advance and make
the necessary bookings rather than just turn up. UBER of course is available and taxis. It's all a matter of planning your return and making sure
you are at the airport early. I would use the bus personally. Some of them drop you off at your accommodation and pick you up there again. Here's

Mount Wellington summit is a good place to visit but again use the other special explorer mini bus to get up and back. Excellent views.
Get the ferry to MONA museum and enjoy a visit there. You might want to read up on it first to make sure it is your cup of tea though.
I recommend the Drunken Admiral restaurant which is on the docks area for dinner. I also like Mures Upper Deck for a lengthy lunch and they have
dinner also. Ask for a window seat.
Are you there on a Saturday. Make sure you visit Salamanca Market. Don't leave it to the afternoon though. I usually get there around 10am.
If you an get a tour bus that goes to Richmond which is a Georgian village about 30 kilometres out of town which has a fully intact convict gaol you
can visit and go in the original cells. Small admission charge. Many people get the day trip to Port Arthur which was the major gaol but the
buildings are just ruins with no roof or cells and for me it is a waste of time. Richmond for the intact gaol! Richmond also has the famous convict

There is a replica of Mawson's Hut on the docks who was the famous explorer. It's modelled on the hut he built in Antarctica.

Yes we easily caught a taxi to and from the airport into Hobart - our flight arrived after 8pm in the evening.

Botanical gardens - a "Hop on Hop off" bus pass will get you there I think you can buy both 1 and 2 day passes for these. They will also get you to
Mt Wellington
There was also a walking tour from Macq1 at 10am that does a historical 1 hour walk think it cost $20 per head if you weren’t staying at the building.
That was a couple of years ago now so not sure if it's still going.
You could also visit MONA
We also did a tour that went out to Bruny Island (we bought tickets off the Red Balloon website for that)

Hubby and I were there just afew months ago , just for 3 days and for the first time just booked flights and accomdation. We decided to go as we
feel.
We had no issue with taxis and ubers, it was a breeze. Stayed in the centre, lots of walks. Along the wharfs so many kiosks to book whatever you feel
like. Decided to do a last minute dinner cruise and it was great, so informative and a nice feel on board. They have so much for tourists to do. So
many cool places to eat and drink. The local park, even had a band playing with food trucks, so we did some dancing, first time we were spontaneous.
I usually love order and pre book everything. Wishing you a wonderful trip. We can't wait to return |

Worth upgrading to the Posh Pit on the MONA Ferry at the Pointy End of the boat....
Interesting op shops.
