Fun Poll - How many countries have you visited? (not including stops)

Most of us Lottos members seem to be fairly well travelled, so I was just wondering how well travelled are we, and who has been to the most countries.

As usual, polls are anonymous so go ahead and click your answer, but feel free to also post how many countries you've visited.
Don't include a stop on your way to a destination unless you stayed at least one night there as a tourist/worker. eg. On my way to Europe, I stopped at Abu Dhabi, but apart from sitting in the airport waiting for my next flight, I've never been to UAE so it's not included in my tally.

Personally, I've been to 14 countries. However, one of those was Antarctica, which isn't a country but I felt compelled to include it. What's interesting is that 5 of those 14 were from comp wins (2 wins, 5 countries).

There are a total of 195 countries, but I've made the poll go up to 196 to allow for Antarctica. :)

Some interesting stats from this site:
https://www.agoda.com/press/well-traveled-survey-2019/#:~:text=A%20majority%20of%20Australians%20(59,30%20countries%2C%20behind%20the%20UK.

Average number of countries visited by Australians: 10
(We come 2nd after UK with 12, but they do have an advantage with Europe at their doorstep.
The USA have an average of just 4.)

59% of Australians have visited up to 10 countries.

4% of Australians have visited over 30 countries.

12% of Australians have never travelled internationally.

Globally, 27% of 18-24 year olds have never travelled (17% Australians)
And 19% of 25-34 age group, have never travelled (9% Australians)

12 for me. 10 of them were wins.

16 Countries - 2 of the trips were from wins.

However, there are 3 others which I visited myself but then also had a win years later.

It would be interesting for a poll to say "how many countries have your visited... due to a lottos win"?
posted 25-2-2024 @ 08:17 PM www

22 for me. 12 were Lottos wins. Some I have visited more than once.

Prize wins 2014: $37680
Prize wins 2011: $13000
previous years about $25000

The harder you work the luckier you get

I knew we Lottos members would be well travelled.
National statistics show that just 4% of Australians have visited over 30 countries.
But for us at Lottos, it's 12%. Wow!

Also, the average Australian has been to 10 different countries.
But for us at Lottos, it's 17.

I counted 50, many multiple times, but only 4 since moving from UK to Australia. Only one a win.

I hope we're all counting each country only once even if you've been there multiple times.

How exciting your lives have been. :)

I used to work for World Book in between teaching appointments, and they had many overseas conferences, all with the possibility to win a place there. Add that to later joining Lottos, and the SCENIC RIVER Cruise our kids gave us a few years ago, and it means that most of mine we didn't fund ourselves, even some returns. We have been very fortunate.

11 for me. Two trip wins - one to Fiji - I'd been there before.
And one trip win to England, France, Turkey, Morocco and India but because of snowstorm airport closures, I also spent a night in Germany and Belgium.

I'm the 1 person in the 101 - 150 section. Been very blessed to travel the world most of my life. My goal was always to see over 100 countries and some of these countries I have been multiple times. I have also lived in many of them. Now in my late 60's I'm working as an overseas Tour Host/Guide and will be adding on to my 107 countries this May to 3 countries I have never been. Many have told me to write a book, but I'm too busy planning my next trip. Can't stop the itchy feet. The only trip I have won was a 7 day cruise out of Brisbane.

where has been your most favourite place?

Very hard question - but loved Iran and Cuba especially.

I'm so impressed with so many of our well travelled members.
Thanks for identifying yourself Hawaii60. What an exciting life you've had.
I thought that you and even those who clicked on over 50 probably worked in the travel industry.

Statistically, 4% of Aussies have travelled to 30+ countries. Here at Lottos that figure is now 14%

I have used tripit to organise my travel for years - great app! It says I have visited 39 countries and 134 cities :) Only one direct lottos win but my winnings have contributed to many of the other trips (eg. flight centre gift cards, cash, other gift cards, flight and hotel vouchers!). Great question!

and WOW Hawaii60!
