It’s not speculation, it’s fact sadly. Was a trip to Paris and there was an almighty outrage! And it was the notorious entrant who won. I’m going to guess 2017 or so - but can’t be certain of when.

Yes it was 2017. Remember it well.

I remember it well, as it was one of the few times I spent $49 on an entry for an alcohol purchase. (Non-drinker) awarded to a creative entry, the whole thing was very fishy.😡

I was always under the impression that promoters had to oblidge to their T&C's as they can be reported to that 'gaming authority?' (forgot what their called) .... otherwise if we can't beat thm join them and we too submitt similar creatives as I feel this would make it fair-game.

This would be way more enticing if ten winners could win $2,500 (IMO).

Agree, especially since it's quite an expensive purchase.

From my memory it was an elaborate diorama in a suitcase situation that was the cause of the drama? The backlash was huge. Hopefully this promoter learnt their lesson not to be roped into that kind of debacle again.

But it's also a timely reminder (especially for the newbies but also everyone) that if you are entering big value competitions and entering as per Ts&Cs, don't assume promoters are also going to stick to their end of the bargain. It's always worth a quick email to them beforehand mentioning these past events and seeking reassurance the Ts&Cs will be adhered to. Too many times we have seen these underhanded methods wow these promoters into giving them the prize, and then the disappointment and outrage that follows. Sometimes these competitions also require an expensive purchase, which is hardly fair when you have made said purchase in good faith, followed the Ts&Cs, and then it seems you never had a chance. It's usually high value/holiday comps with a WOL component, but draw comps don't escape either - the usual suspects will give anything a go if they think they can get one "under the radar".

The lovely lottoer itspossible is a big advocate for this, and always posts the replies received from the promoters on the comps that she contacts. We just can't always rely on her to do this though, as she doesn't enter and make contact on every single comp.

I'd encourage everyone to take the initiative to send those emails to the promoters - it's the only way to ensure it's an even playing field and the winner is selected from the entry method per the Ts&Cs only.

When the Promoter makes a mistake and gets carried away with a creative mailed in entry and they are publicly called out on it they go into panic mode and the final outcome is that they then claim that the creative entry just happened to have the best 25 wol as well as judged by them. This is of course rubbish because I've seen one of the 25 wol that they then published as the winner and it was very ordinary indeed. One of the good creative model makers is not similarly skilled at writing the words. It was several years ago now and I can't remember which competition it was unfortunately.

Mind you none of us object when the terms and conditions are not adhered to when there is a benefit to us. e.g. they allow the trip for example to be extended or changed but that's only one example.

Thank you for posting Squirrelena. And Happy New Year All 😁🥳
Has anyone seen this advertised at a premise other than Bottle O or Ritchies? I don’t have either of these options near me. Thanks.

The former Lottoer who mailed in was very open about her strategy. I say former, but is probably here under a different name. Her husband used to work in the field and as such would create the music boxes as it was his profession. She said she would call the promoter and ask if they’d accept mail in entries. She was pushing the rules, but I do think the responsibility lies with the promoter to not allow it.

However there’s certainly something fishy about it all. 😉

The buck stops with the Promoter. They should not give any advantage to an individual entrant prior to the draw. They were magnificent creations the ones I saw years ago and they have a definite place in competitions that require a physical creative type of entry.

I agree it does. However the strategy was to enter ones that were not advertised as mail in creatives. But yes, promoter is ultimately responsible.

Anyone remember the QUIKSILVER or BILLABONG COMP, can't remember exactly from years ago? It was a 25WOL answer that you filled in in store and put in the "barrel". The lottoer at the time took a creative entry down to Torquay and handed it in...I might add there were several. They won a car!!! There was such a kerfuffle. She had all her relatives sign up to lottos and support the "illegal" entry. It was very disappointing.

I wondered why there were posts saying promoter has been contacted about keeping to their t & c.

It all makes sense now. Thanks for sharing.
