Keeping receipts
Hi everyone, wondering if someone can tell me whether it is actually necessary to retain receipt(s) to claim prize as some Terms & Conditions
specify? Has anyone actually lost out on receiving a prize because they didn't have the receipt? Thanx! |

Yes it does happen, people have not been awarded prizes for not having POP
Edit: Best to keep it for everything, I won in a 3rd round draw with Garnier once as the winners they drew didn't have POP so they redrew those prize
winners... and I still was asked for POP too, which I had... so it's worth keeping receipts for months after. |

I keep them all, just in case. And yes, I have been required to provide them to claim a prize. |

I've had to provide a receipt to claim a prize as well. I was asked to send in the original. If that happens make sure you take a photocopy first
just in case.
woohoo. Post 700.

I've never been lucky enough to have to produce a reciept but do keep them. Just in case.
I put my in one of those office files. All reciepts from january are in the january section, all from February are in the Feb section etc etc. To each
reciept I attach all the barcodes for brandname products with a paper clip. Even if they weren't bought for a particular comp. I write the name of the
product on the back of the barcode so I can remember which code goes with which product on the reciept.
Apart from warranty reciepts I keep all the reciepts for 12 months. |

Was only once asked to send a photo copy of my receipt but keep them all .Better safe then sorry .I have actually since that episode been sending a
copy of receipt for every mail in comp I do & highlight the item .I found a bag of receipts for all last years comps during a clean up last week
.To make things easier I have ziplock bags for each store & an envelope for each month .The past few shops I have been stapleing an EF for each
comp entered on that receipt .

I was just asked for POP for EVERY entry I made into the Sanitarium Tickled Pink promo & that's only for a $25 rose...I've won 8 of them!
Yes, I could produce every receipt.
So the answer is YES, you need to keep POP for every comp you go in if that's what the T & C's say. |

I had a reciept that I was going to throw out cos the comp had been finished for several months and the prizes had been doled out - I know this cos I
won a minor prize. Than I got an email asking me for my receipt. Thought that was cheeky cos they'd already sent me the prize! Turned out, major
winners couldn't provide POP and they were going through the list of minor winners looking for POP and I had it at my elbow waiting to be thrown into
bin. Won 2 more fabulous prizes from that comp.
So keep POPs! |

I missed out on a prize because I didn't have a current passport. Mine had lapsed and could be renewed before the date required but they wouldn't
accept that.
So pays to read T & C thoroughly. But even with that it was hard to understand how they could deny the prize but the wording was not really clear
and I would have had to take legal action to do anything about it. So I put it down to experience.
I won an outdoor setting ages ago and I was asked for the receipt, label, for the meat barcode, and the promotional tag, all of which I had and had
stored well enough that I could find - a feat in itself!! I photocopied it all before I send if off too just in case it went astray. Its getting
harder all the time to retain all these bits and pieces. |

For about 95% of my store/ product wins I have had to provide proof of purchase.
I have a folder for my comping receipts. It is divided into sections like Woolworths, Coles, Alcohol stores, Big W, Kmart etc. |

I have often been asked for receipts. I find an easy way of storing them is to stick them on the date of purchase in a large diary. Always easy to
find. |

I definitely had to produce a receipt for a $250 wine prize. I just put all receipts together in a box and sort through them if I win anything! |

When I won Footy Pack with Arnotts/ Coca cola the T & C's repeated over & over that you must retain your receipt, well I only entered once
& didn't think to keep my receipt, when the Marketing company rang I was honest & said I had misplaced it but lucky I'd kept the barcodes
& that was enough!
But, I've learn't my lesson as I stressed for about a week over it, so I like Rosie79 keep all my receipts in a box! |

Do companies ask you to provide the receipts for all your entries, especially when you entered many times, even if you've only won one prize or do
they usually ask for just the POP for your winning entry. |

Before being told the prize I recently won the girl first wanted to know if I had my original POP not once but 3 times .As it was a comp I had entered
on 1 of my away from home trips I had them all in a seperate folder & was able to produce it as soon as I was capable of driving the next day .I
had already stapled a copy with the EF drawn .I copy all receipts on day of purchase , think it should be illegal to use those dockets that fade ,
have some for electrical products that don't last more then a few weeks , not good if needed for a problem during warrant time .And yes gibbo I try to
be organized , paid off with the car

Sometimes yes. I won a comp once (can't remember which) where they asked for all my receipts and barcodes. Well, they were all mixed up with hubby's
entries, so I just sent the one I knew was the winning one. They delivered my prize.
Then there was a comp with ipods as prizes. Coincidentally both my big boys won one, however I couldn't for the life of me find the receipts. The
promoter eventually decided to give us one ipod rather than 2. My eldest already had an ipod so I asked her to address it to the one who didn't. So
I guess you can sometimes negotiate with them.
